One of the hospitals I work at has program for uncompensated care. Volunteers work with local businesses to do fundraisers. Its all a matter of getting the right connections. You could create a challenge for two professional hockey teams, whoever loses the game pays a large sum of money to a hospital in the other teams city. Hospitals have programs for professional players to be the hero of the day to come and visit the hospital and be that regular hero that comes to make a difference. Get big businesses to round transactions of to the nearest dollar or donate a select amount, the businesses can do it on the receipts or on the transaction machines. Once you have good connections with the right people and timing the campaign right you can make a lot happen.
