How In the world do I tell my parents this?

So I transferred colleges a while ago. At my last college I did exceptionally great and made the deans list. My grades were one of the things I prided myself on. Here my major is rhetoric and speech. At the new college back in the spring I took one of the necessary classes needed to declare the major. I failed that class because it was super hard and I missed a lot of the tests because I got enrolled in the class late.

I talked to my advisor and she said I was granted one retake so I was enthused and made sure the second time around I would do so well. Its during the summer and I took time off work to go to every class took outstanding notes, and spent hours all the way up until midnight working on the quizzes. I had an extremely inconsistent professor who would give out zeros just for not providing the right citations even when I spent hours and days working on the rest of the quiz questions.

He would give good grades to some who have said they didn’t try hard and I ended up failing the class because I got a zero on that one quiz. He didn’t give extra credit opportunities or bonus or redos. I have really strict parents and I’m so desperate. I’ve been stressing and emailing my advisor and she said I can submit a withdrawal petition so I hope that works but if it doesn’t my advisor suggests changing my major. I’m just so frustrated because this is the only major close to my career and I failed the class thanks to a sucky professor. Other people have complained about him too but I’m just so desperate.

I don’t know what to do and how to tell my parents. I feel like I wasted their money.
