What's the most depressing job to hear an 8 to 12 year old kid say they want to do when they grow up?

As a teacher, most jobs I hear students say are "doctor, lawyer, police officer, or musician," even here in South Korea. Sometimes you'll get actor, video game streamer, dentist, interior decorator or something like that, but I've NEVER heard a kid ever say they wanted to grow up to sell life insurance. That's just... Depressing. And yet, many people do it.

Which job would be the most depressing thing to hear a kid say they want to do when they grow up?

I heard four 12-year-old girls saying that they could not wait to start doing CAM shows for money when they turned 18... I was very disturbed by this conversation.

They were speaking about how much they can earn, how they were willing to do simple things for the amounts of money that they were expecting to earn, and that they could easily do it until they were in their late 30s or longer. And they were talking about how much they could earn by being Instagram models, having a fansOnly account, and things like this. One of them said that it would be an easy way to get money while in college.

I am pro sex workers' rights, but hearing this was discouraging. These girls were very beautiful, but to plan to do this from such a young age seemed wrong to me. In my mind, they should be a little more innocent, and should have much higher aspirations concerning their intellectual and professional development. I was close to joining their conversation, but I ended up speaking to two of their parents instead, as I happened to work with them. And these girls do not come from poverty, they are from a very wealthy neighborhood.

I was just very shocked.

Pick one. You can't have both. You either want a generation of little whores, or you want more women in STEM, but you don't get both.

This, among many reasons (the narcissism, the laziness, the entitlement, being a useless loser, etc) is why I hate OnlyFans and the new sex worker generation. It doesn't even surprise me anymore, which is why I didn't put "sex worker" on this list. This has been normalized since 2019.

I guess im depressing cause not only did I go to school double majoring in criminal justice and forensic science (my specialty being crime scene investigation). But I'm actually studying insurance so I can be ready to take the test hopefully soon

@Lucy68 have you tried the government jobs? And if it's just your area have you checked other states ir cities like CA, TX, NV or AZ or any others close by to you, I know for sure California Agencies in Southern California are hurting for many roles.

Corpse washer. I'm not talking about actual morticians, whom have a delicate profession that asks for skills and tact, but the guys and gals that wash and prepare the corpses for burial or incineration.

My wife worked has a corpse washer for some months, and although she has a strong stomach, she found it the most thankless, boring and depressing job. Ten hour a day washing, sponging and filing away dead people, five days a week.
