To those who decided not to go to college did you regret it?

I have time to decide if I want to go back but I missed out on my 21st century scholars opportunity because I didn’t want to take the act or sat

I went to college for one year, business pre-law, and then I dropped out. It's called Elise after about 3 years I went back to get my degree in anthropology and now I've graduated. I don't regret dropping out of college the first time, because I didn't like the major that I had picked and I couldn't see a future for myself with it. After dropping out I couldn't see a future for myself not going to college, because the opportunities available to find a career that I could enjoy and that would allow me to afford to live just weren't there. Now that I've gone back, I would say I'm a happier person, I regret not choosing better the first time because being even a few years older going back to college really offsets your ability to enjoy college. There's no dorm life, you have to work to pay your bills while you're there, clubs and associations are weird when you're older than everybody around you. But in the end I learned a lot and I'm hopeful for the future

I’m worried about accidentally being stuck with student debt

Smarter well there's not a lot you can do about that, if your family can't finance a college education then you would have to take out loans. You have to make a long-term plan for your life and see if what career you would want to go to college to acquire would allow you the financial freedom to be able to pay back those loans without too much trouble or if you can find another career without going to college that would afford you enough money to live a comfortable life. It depends entirely on where you are, what you are good at, what your family standing is and what opportunities are available in your area.

I didn't really choose but was rather prevented due to systemic problems in Canada. But, I have felt the lack of a degree holding me back in my professional life. That said, there is way to much value placed on a degree right now, particularly outside of stem fields. I would suggest going for a stem degree, or an associate degree in something business related. Trade schools are a highly under-rated option, for example, learning about power systems, and electrical and air conditioning will keep you employed forever.

You could go to an art college, but apprenticing to someone who's art you like is equally good and wouldn't put you in debt.

I loved college but you don't need a degrees for a good job. for instance. if you want a degree is resturant or hotel service or travel industry. You don't need a degree.

Yes. I wish I had at least got my general prerequisites out of the way. I also aged out of being able to get financial aid through the VA, since my father is a disabled veteran. I would have basically gone to school for free and now that I'm going back I have to rely on student loans.-. Happy to be finally building my future though. there's nothing wrong with taking a little time off, just maybe not as much time as I did. I'm 28 now, so I waited 10 years to go back to school lol
