Year 10 Work Experience?

Im currently in year 10, later on this year we do work experience for a week, im currently 14 and will still be when doing this work. Im wondering what are some good work experience ideas to do/ where to go? Im interested possibly in law, maths, (science ish but not first choice) history and English, drama and french are my top subjects currently, im unsure about any requirmensts from my school or how the process works any help would be greatly appreciated:)

The key isn't to look at where your grades are highest but what types of careers you feel you could enjoy for many years. If nothing stands out pick a field you'd like to explore in greater depth. Find a position that would allow you a wide range of experiences rather than just one. In other word, work with a project manager rather than a secretary. This is an opportunity to explore and discover to find out what suits you best. You'd have to narrow down your interests before people can start giving you suggestions as to what might work best for you.

Love this idea, any good larger company’s or types of company in general that might be good to look at?

I can think of many, but the right one for you will determine what is best. At your age, you probably want to be with a small company. For instance, after Burt Rutan won the XPrize for the first private ship in space, I took my son to UCLA to listen to him address the engineering students. Because his company was small, everyone got experience working all aspects of the design and construction. In a large company, you're limited to the specific task you're hired to do. That means you may end up doing a lot of repetitive tasks, encountering very little variety. You're better off having a variety of experiences, giving yourself a broad basis to grow on, rather than becoming an expert at just one.

Ask yourself whether you'd prefer being at the top of a pillar or a pyramid. The pillar rises higher, but it's straight down from the top and easy to topple. The pyramid may not rise as high, but it gives you a more stable basis upon which to grow.

Caring__1 is right: follow your interests as well as explore with a dose of what you're good at: it sucks to be bad at something (failure is good, but lots of time being bad at something isn't fun). But, you notes something important: make sure you know what the requirements of your school/program are: no good investing time and other resources only for it to not work for what you wanted it to. Here's the other thing: have fun! I assume you have a whole life ahead of you of working to pay bills, eat, and live so make sure you give yourself some enjoyment.
