What can I expect in my new job switching from retail to tutoring for kids K-12?

I will be a tutor soon for an after school program. It is specified kindergarten to twelfth grades. Family and friends said patience is the key and I do have a lot of patience, I used to babysit my little cousins and volunteered in after school programs before my retail job, I know it may be a different dynamic than typical retail with customers complaining over products but also kids may be mean too but I am a kind hearted person and want to help them succeed in their education like my family and friends pushed me.
