Question

Whether you’re a doctor or business man etc, if you’re muscular you get respect 🫡. It shows you work hard and you’re probably going to be right about things you say.
Not only that a strong body is a strong mind 🧠

People are probably gonna like you more. More fearful of you and to let you down. Improves every aspect of your life perhaps!

As a general rule of thumb, no, it does not.

If you have someone that uses overalls or clothing that would hide all those superfluous muscle, then they serve strictly no purpose for the job. The muscles are not visible and thus, they will not enhance the looks, proficiency or other professional knowledge of that person. I would certainly not trust a doctor like the one you use to highlight your question. That would be a total red flag to me because he seems to be more preoccupied by his looks and the impression he can make on others than to help his patients to get better. That is nothing more than a show off.

Now, if you work in a gym as a trainer, I can understand that it helps getting customers because that type of body is what those clients come for. It does not take much brains to show off muscles in a job but it takes substantially more brains to do a job well and remain as anonymous as possible.

If I am a HR manager in a hospital, I hire a doctor on the basis of his knowledge and not his muscles...

Depends on the field.

Working in medical for a decade in high end roles; if I saw a doctor who is obviously a steroid abuser I'd triple check the narcotic count every time he works. Who knows what he's "using" for his muscles. And doctors happen to be some of worse for this in medical field for this or writing own scripts (using relatives / friends) for these drugs.

I wouldn't be impressed by those muscles.

He looks like a fool in medical profession or a male stripper hired as a joke to entertain (be cat called & laughed about) staff and little old ladies with nothing to do.

Other: It depends on the profession. In security, law enforcement, firefighting, fitness, or labor jobs, that's helpful. But it's pointless (and kinda stupid) as a doctor, or a male nurse.

But mostly I disagree with the implication that muscular of fit people just have better, more disciplined mindsets and that "a strong body is a strong mind." In my opinion, most fit and good looking people are just extremely narcissitic and their muscles or abs are just for aesthetic purposes. Fit people do NOT seem to be any more disciplined or focus-minded than anyone else, unless maybe they're martial artists or full time athletes or something, and those people usually put their looks secondary to the function of their body; they aren't working out just to look good.

I agree less because of status but also because a muscular guy is living a life a healthier lifestyle. A guy that´s working out naturally is more likely to spend time and money concerning his lifestyle and sleep rhythm which also helps him to work hard and concentrate without the need of certain drugs or caffeine.
There´s a level where his figure might get intimadating to others though but generally he´s more likely to be respected and honoured while being with his life.

Well when you work in medicine, especially if you work in a hospital, you do need to have some measure of strength to be able to physically manipulate patients, especially if they’re disabled, elderly, or intubated, so yes, being muscular can be helpful if you have a job in medicine. Especially in physically demanding situations.

its true. even for women. There was a time where I worked out, was fit, toned and had muscles. I got a lot more respect at work or when meeting strangers. We all tend to judge people by the way they look regardless if we like it or not. If you look like fit, people will see you as more capable. If you look fat or look like a messy homeless bum, they're less likely to see you as capable.

I disagree that being muscular means you'd be any more right than anyone else, lol. Very few people if any would fear you just for being muscular. & A lot of people just don't like letting people down in general.

But yes, being fit definitely has it's benefits especially when doing litter training.

No, getting highly ripped and maintaining it is hard work. You have to give out a lot of time every day to maintain it. A lot of muscles are actually bad in work that takes very high precision.

Jobs that actually require to have more intelligence than raw physical power will be difficult to maintain otherwise. Doctors, professors, Scientists, Engineers, and Lawyers don't have to be ripped. If the are ripped that means they are actually social media stars and don't have actual good knowledge of their field.

However, everyone should stay, active and maintain a fit body.

I do not fully agree.

A muscular gym-body often only shows the level of vanity in a person. If the muscles are natural, then good for 'you'... but that's all.

In a professional environment skills and smartness count a lot more.

Respect from others is not based on how 'strong' one looks, but on how good the person's ''results'' are.

Yes it shows discipline and dedication towards something. Some people fail to understand it but it is very difficult to take care of your health and being consistent in doing so. It shouldn't be about the profession, but a general rule in living a healthy life.

True, but it's not muscles it's more about overall attractiveness. The hotter you are the better people of either gender will treat you.

People also rate attractive individuals as smarter and more morally upstanding despite that having no or even an inverse correlation.

It helps to be strong and in shape. I don't think you have to be big/huge. If you decide to intervene in some conflict, it helps to be big/huge and trained.

it is true. Also it helps if there is a physical aspect to your job. I work in IT but often I have to fix piece of equipment than might be heavy or climb a ladder to access a ceiling.
