Do you consider yourself a workaholic?

Question

Lets say you already have enough money but you want to keep making more money as fast as you can. Are you the type to volunteer to work even when not required? Do you do it as an escape to get away from boredom or problems at home? Or is it simply greed? Or do you just like helping out when you can? Like what is it? Would you even choose to volunteer to work if you were in a relationship and could spend more quality time with your partner instead?

My Answer
I am absolutely not a workaholic. I’m not volunteering for shit 😂 Jobs always had to mandate me because I’m not doing more than I have to. I’m content with what I make and what I saved up so I’m not doing more than I need to. I like going to the casino, so why would I volunteer to work for extra money just to blow it at the casino (although I’m quite good at tripling what I walked in with) but still... Workaholics scare me. I refuse to date another one of those. If i were in a relationship, I would definitely choose quality time with my dude over working. But if alone time were an option, I’d likely choose that over the dude 🤷‍♀️

I'm a... responsibility-haulic.

What I mean is that, I don't actively seek out extra work, and can in fact be somewhat lazy, but if there is something that needs done, and nobody else is willing/able, then I will step up and take responsibility.

This can be during work, or part of my social life. Big project that will screw everyone if it's not done, but nobody wants to put themselves forward? I'll do it. Online game needs a guild leader, but nobody wants to lead? I'll do it. Discord server needs an admin, so that everyone can use it, worry free? Fine, I'll take over.

This frequently puts me in leadership/management roles, despite the fact that I didn't want to be in that position, but if it makes life easier, then I'll take on the responsibility. I might resent it, but it needs to be done, and nobody else will do it, so I get stuck taking care of it.

Story of my life. Everyone comes to me when something needs done. I get used, and taken advantage of, but it's who I am. 🤷‍♂️

I'm not a workaholic. I do my job well and completely. I don't neglect my family for it although in the past I'm certain there were times when I spent way more time working than I should have although that has put me in the place where I can support them.

So, I work hard, do the job right and well and to a point that I can look in the mirror and tell myself that I've done a good job and then I switch work off and spend time with wife, kids, and me.

I don't consider myself a "workaholic" but I'm someone who spends a lot of time on my hobbies and skills. the thing is I kind have to because I'm young and In college. I want my skills so that I can graduate and eventually land a job in something love. My passions always come first because I'm a committed learner.

The Ironic thing is though, I work less then a lot of my classmates. I've only pulled an all-nighter once and vowed to never do it again. so I schedule my time to get enough done for each class before 10pm. so I don't have to cram it in one night and I can produce go quality scores.

I also Don't work a student job, parttime job or internship right now while plenty of my classmates do.

I don't consider myself a workaholic but I do think I'm ambitious, talented and intelligent. still working on diligence and discipline because I still have goals to reach.

Oh heelll no. I've learned working like my mom does will get me just like her. Mind is breaking down, memory is broken, back won't stop aching, excuses flood mind before determination with a shock of negativity.

So instead, I work what I MUST, not extra. Once work is done, I am done and I'm leavin'. My book says to get farther, you must do more. Well I am, not to be the manager of a ship where I'm controlling soldiers to do what the bigger manager tells me to do.

So my schedule is permanently 3 days a week 12hr shifts. That is what I'm committed to as my ongoing schedule yet I do pick up extra shifts for extra cash when I have a goal in my mind and as a back up plan. Depends on the type of life you want to live and environment you want to be in. As a woman, I always suggest make as much as you can not kill yourself though but pace yourself. Because as a woman you want to live in a nice environment and have nice things. It just depends if you ever want to live on your own or not too.

Goals I think about are:

-Next Apartment ( location- high end preferably, cost, convenience, will this be the area I will like to buy in upon lease renewal time)

-Investing in myself ( Apearance, education, self care, fun money)

- Emergency funds , stocks and retirement

-Down payment for a house saved up

-Travel

Sneakers biz is growing in Sweden and not that many people have any fteaking ideas on how to get limited edition jordans, adidas and other classic sneakers down here. I am not a workholic but i have over 400 hours overtime that i all saved to take as days off 😁.

I have thought I was a workaholic in the past for sure. But I really am not. I like being helpful and I don’t do things unless I am being useful. But if I can have set times that I work and make enough to live on then I have no reasons to volunteer besides to help my coworkers. And if the question is between helping coworkers and spending time with my babe I will totally chose the girl. But I will also tell her that I can be later here or there for the sake of helping out me team. It’s a balance for me.

I’ve been homeless and jobless. I prefer to always be profitable. There are fun things to do that are also profitable. I enjoy being productive. I enjoy building and repairing things with my hands and mind.

Not necessarily a workaholic but more of a goalaholic,

If I have a certain goal in mind, everything instantly becomes second and I'd sell my soul to do what I have to. Mostly the usual stuff of staying up late and staying late.

It is fun and a high for me. I love when I'm bouncing around with ideas and become obessed with what I'm doing.

The case might be different when I'm married and with kids but not right now.

I like to stay busy and can be a workaholic in the right conditions….. but can be swayed by someone who wants to spend quality time/do fun activities or just lay around (unfortunately I don’t have someone like that right now). So, I do quite a bit of work, projects (but recently ended my long run of volunteering at a non-profit sports organization). Money is important but not the most important thing. I grew up with very little and can be in any atmosphere.

I'm a workaholic when I have to go do a specific task. I will work 24 hours if I had to and I did too. I don't like holidays as much because I don't like to sit around the house.

But I have another side where if I get I'll I will take exceptionally long weeks off from work. But if there is a deadline then I am the fire extinguisher

I guess I would consider myself a workaholic because on my days off if my job needs somebody and they call me to fill a spot I usually say yes. It might just be from boredom or just need a break from a girl nagging me and making some extra money is nice too. It also depends where to if they need a security guard at a empty factory I be cool with that but if they want me to work at a fair or someplace with a lot of people I might refuse.
