Have you ever been taken off a schedule for a whole week without explanation?

My work has excluded me from the schedule for the next week and not even told me why. We did get a new GM who was previously a shift lead. This is our 2nd GM since the place opened in October. Last week this new GM cut a lot of other people's hours and hired new people as well. If I'm been cut from a schedule does that mean firing is the next step? Or could it just be a temporary snag?

So, I called my work back. The explanation given to me is everyone's hours got cut and they are working with 3 people. This makes no sense. For one the restaurant gets somewhat steady business, why cut hours?

I hate to hear that but when a management change comes in and they do what they did to you then that's a sign of "look for another job". Sometimes that can originate from new management feeling threatened by skill set of current employees.

Other times, they target the best paid and already have their replacements planned. I have known a major drug company to be training others through a secondary company who does their HR and like work in the same (ish) field. They fired some of the PHARMA companies employees and slide the others unknowingly being trained right into the positions at 20,000-30,000 less person.

If they are cutting hours. File for unemployment. If it continues another week, quit. As that likely counts as constructive dismissal.

Talk to your manager about it, and see what they say. I would make a paper trail and take them to court if they consistently don’t put you on the schedule for more than 2-3 consecutive weeks

Well if they’re cutting hours to train new staff chances are good someone is getting fired. Unless you’re expecting to need a bunch more staff soon they’re training replacements
