My boss is a great guy… but I feel like I’m fucking him over. I was offered a job making nearly 30$ an hour right off the bat, plus commissions… consistent schedule, laid back job, everything is cool. I want to step up in life. I just feel guilty..
You tell them that. Its that simple really.
"Hey, we should talk. I was offered a job with x, y and z. I do like it here though and wanted to let you know in case you can/wish to match it."
That's it really. Giving them the chance to match is good conduct and a clear signal that you approve of them. Whether or not they do and can is on them.
You do just that, quit. BUT... most people quit their managers, not their job. Make sure that the new job makes up for losing a great boss.
