Is it necessary to study to learn a language?

hello everyone, I'm a 23 year old Turkish. And I love chatting with foreign people. today, a friend of mine said that it is better to take education from a course instead. Do you think learning a language online is bad for the future?

Language immersion (Going to the country and use the language day in an day out) is by far the best way to learn a language.

If you can't do that, taking classes would give you a more formal knowledge base on a language, it'll be easier for you to work with that language (translator / teacher etc.)

Learning online or using apps is mostly for conversation use. It's not bad, but may not be sufficient enough for you to find a job in a different country.

That's good to hear. Your English seems quite proficient. As far as the equal part, it will take time. I am an immigrant myself. When you just get here, it will be difficult sometimes.

You can try online apps or a language book to understand the basics. However, It's better to learn by getting exposed to the language such as listening to the radio, watching television, or talking to someone in that language.

Finding a patient friend who you can have conversation with was a faster way for me. It takes effort on both ends but that's why I have friends from all over the world. I speak enough to be respected and get to the bathroom. 😁
