I had a dream before I started university that I would go to Harvard and that motivated me to raised my cumulative GPA from a D- to a B+ by getting straight A’s for 3 years in a row. I never went to Harvard, however my grades are so high I can get into any graduate study program I want since I got high 90s when a perfect A is an 85.
My dream of marrying an amazing guy motivated me to set up a business and now that I expect to be rich beyond belief I no longer desire the guy cause I expect dozens of guys more attractive than him to be interested in me once my business sets off. But if I did not plan to move out and have my own family, I would not have had the desire to become rich.

Depends how well you take bad news and not getting what you want. It’s scientifically proven there are different levels of reactions to this. If your reaction to expectations change, then you can expect more or less. But trying your best to get something to upgrade your quality of life is also important I think. But don’t believe that “you can do and become anything you want” stuff. It’s factually not true. I would like to rephrase that phrase as ”You could do amazing things.” or something more precise and realistic.
Just remember that study after study indicates that men don’t typically become attracted to women for their money. Also, statistically speaking, the number of people who get rich is so low that one is begging for disappointment if one bets on being rich as a necessity to satisfy their desires in life.
