What exam (s) was the worst for you during education?

Even though I dreaded EVERY oral exam during all my years undergoing education - the worst has always been math, both oral and written. Oh the horrors! My palms are almost sweating just by the thought of it.

When I was in grad school I took a course called Discrete Mathematics. It was taught by the chairman of the math department. He gave 3 exams during the semester. The exams were of horrible proportions. You had to bring 6 or7 sharpened pencils. It was 3 hours and you wrote the while time. I would use up 2 or 3 bluebooks. Nobody ever finished the exam in the 3 hours. He would go around the room and snatch the pencil out of your hand and tell you that you were finished. Thefinal was just as bad and afterwards I went to the bathroom before I went home and there was a grown man in there in tears. That course was the only C iI got the whole time

Oh no. I died a little inside just thinking about a 3 hour math test alone - let alone the rest of that horror story. 😅 thankfully mine have never been that bad.

I've a bachelor in social education. (Denmark) No math required whatsoever.

Discrete Mathematics was one of the easiest courses I ever took.

In high school I hated English. We had to label the part of speech of what each word on a sentence.. and then reading a book and answering a question. I hate it when there is more than one answer. Then if there is a lab that can only be one in one room and not anywhere else. You pressured to finish it since you can work on it at home..

I LOVED English - or just language in general. All our exams include pressure to be finished within a certain time limit.

In college there was no exam it was just long paper like 25 pages. It forgot the topic but we had to explain a topic we choose to the general person or something.

All math for me. Calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, with the exception of courses related to discrete math. Those seemed easy in comparison.

Do you mean you had different exams for those things or am I misunderstanding? 😯 I really hope for the latter.

Different and multiple at the same time. Got Calculus and Differential Equations both in same semesters. I understand none of it. I still got 4.0 GPA but I understood none of it -- I just went into robot mode. "ROBOT READ BOOK! DRINK COFFEE! MORE COFFEE! READ BOOK. HIGHLIGHT THIS TEXT. DON'T UNDERSTAND."

I had xalculus and differential equations and thought Discrete Math was harder

@exitseven I started programming as a little kid so discretized representations came intuitively to me. But continuous representations so hard, as well as the rules for solving equations involving integrals. I like working with a finite number of elements.

Oh my goodness. All you mentioned are simply subjects within the math class I've had to suffer through. Like we'd spend a couple of weeks on one subject and then circle through them all - during math class.

@potteplante I've had these recurring nightmares even in my 40s where I forgot even the sum of 1+1 while being asked the most advanced mathematical questions by my professor. Used to have some social anxiety in my teens and one of my recurring nightmares is that I wake up in my school completely naked, trying to find a way to hide my shame. But I got over that with partying and hanging out and getting a job which required me to talk to people all the time. But I never got over those recurring math courses nightmare.

@bungushighfivepizza I still have nightmares about my last math oral examination. I blind picked linear algebra (could've been worse) - I remember cussing a whole lot but I don't remember solving the problem. During my bachelor I interned at an elementary school, I couldn't help second graders with some of their problems - thank goodness that was a short internship or I'd quit. 😅

Lol, it was with ALL exams, I was nerve wrack even though I knew I'd ace the exam. Math has nothing to do with my career - thank goodness.

I hated school and just the whole experience was a living nightmare. I quit and have never regretted it

I don’t know where you can take one in your country. Like what is the equivalent.

I don't think we've an equivalent - in elementary school (early grades) we'd get something similar to standardized tests but it didn't count for anything. When you come to exams - it's mostly about problem solving, analysing and being able to articulate the knowledge you've gained through the class. And that is done with both written tests and oral.
