Anyways 8th grade is hell and I want to know if high school will be any better
What was the worst grade for you (k-12)?
Anyways 8th grade is hell and I want to know if high school will be any better
Hmm, well there were more than a few classes I got Fs in, but I got as low as a couple hundred points or so... Because I slept in classes and did absolutely nothing except tests and occasional assignments (to prove to myself that I already knew the information and was learning what I wanted to learn). And as for why, because I lacked any real challenge, math just flat out bored me, I spent most of my nights unable to sleep (not sure why I actually did get prescribed some stuff for awhile but it didn't work so I stopped taking it) I was severally depressed and felt as though no one had any faith in me, and lastly, because I knew no matter if I got straight As in all of my classes or not, my mother would be sending me to summer school or something to occupy my time during the summer so I seen it fit to enjoy some of my classes during the school year instead of wasting all of my school year time and my summer break.
I've pretty much always been fairly gifted with English (even if my handwritting looks like chicken scratches and many teachers and students made fun of me for it) I didn't/don't have the patience to read an entire novel/book and I OCD when I try, so I don't get very far. Math even basic math was and still is extremely taxing on my patience and all and all I hate it and am absolutely TERRIBLE at it. Earth Science I liked, Biology/life science was really boring to me, P.E. was a cake walk, even if I get picked on a lot. And there were some cool electives and History... I have ALWAYS LOOOOOVED history.
Everyone's different and has different reasons of why they liked/disliked school and I don't know you well enough to say if you'll enjoy High School more than middle school, but everyone I have know reffered to 8-9th grade as hell, and for me I hated it much worse than High School, I thought the last two years of High School were the best, because everything was rutine, I knew what I could and couldn't get away with, the schedules and classes were all fairly regular to me it gave me time to really relax and not stress so much, I think the best advice I can give you is this... Don't worry so much most of the time things are NEVER as bad as they seem once you look back on them, try not to worry so much, enjoy the time you have in school, make some friends, maybe get into a relationship or few, goof off, but turn in your work, try your best, but don't kill yourself over an assignment, as bad as it may seem, things will never be that bad, enjoy your youth while you still have it. =)
Hope this answer helps, and sorry for the book ;)
Most of high school was hell. I mean first off kids would bully me and call me gay. I mean they would be so stupid, I'd walk by a classroom and some kids would say "hey I like fudge, I wonder where they pack it at and who packs it, I bet Benji likes to pack fudge" or just stupid sh*t like that, and I was finally pushed to the edge and sadly made a threat). It also didn't help I was very anti drug and alcohol at first and people knew that, but I also made it worse by calling kids stupid drunk ho's. Then my sophomore year I lost my dad to renal cell cancer which he had been suffering with for 2 years, and it sucked because one of the kids who called me fudgepacker said sorry at teh funeral, but it was the most fake apology ever. Junior year was still okay, altho me and my friends started to drift, and because I lived in another town (our school system was country wide) they didn't ask me to hang out, and soon I became jealous and paranoid, but held it in until senior year. The worst thing I did was beat up and threaten my best friend, and it was because he wouldn't give me alcohol on a school trip. Definitely not a great decision. I also had a girl I really liked from another school, but she rejected me after we had talked and hung out for like 6 months. It also sucked I never had dates for dances and stuff. The rest of senior year was lonely, but could of been worse. I know it sounds bad, but there were fun times, I played football all four years, and was in play productions and musicals, and a lot of people did like my sense of humor, and maybe my class not liking me was for the better. a lot of them went to the same college and still hang out with eachother, and even the few from my school at my college only hang out with each other, while I've made friends from all over at college. So yeah High School sucked, but it got much better.
Grade 8, was definitely one of the worst years. Well near the end. I was friends with a bunch of these girls and for some reason they started hating my best friend in the group. They ignored her so much and called her all kinds of names that she ended up switiching schools. We were still all friends, but I still hung out with my best friend. I knew they were kinda mad about that, but we always hung out at my house since I had the hot tub and the computer in my room so they never said anything. This went for awhile, I hung out with those girls one day and my best friend the next day. Anyway, one of these girls older sister, who was in grade 11 at the time, had a party and we were allowed to go. One of the girls, ended up meeting a boy who was in grade 10 and she was too scared to hang out with him by herself so she invited all of us to hang out with him in my hot tub. We were all having fun and when the boy had to go, he asked for cell phone number and I gave it to him. The next day all those girls confronted me and accused me of flirting with him when I wasn't supposed to and saying how skimpy my bikini was and how they couldn't believe I was such a backstabber, first betraying them by hanging out with my best friend and now for being a slut. They had had a vote and voted me out of the group. They called me horrible names for the last 2 months of school, I couldn't switch schools since it was so late in the year. During grade 8 grad, when I went up to get my diploma, one of the girls ended up tripping me onstage and I sprained my wrist. Right after I got my diploma, they had a slideshow that showed all the pictures of the grade 8 grads and when mine came up, they all yelled slut really loud. It was beyond embarassing since my whole family and everybody elses family was there.
Anyways, they all went to a different high school and me and my best friend, went to the same high school. We're still friends to this day and even went to Europe together. We even lived together for about 6 months. That boy in grade 10, ended up being my first real boyfriend for about 10 months, until I dumped him. After high school, a couple of girls sent me messages on facebook, saying sorry, but I never answered.
Trust me, high school is defiantly better. I loved high school. I had a good group of friends and we partied hard, haha!
My 4th grade teacher developed a grudge against me and it seemed she did everything she could to make that year hell for me, so it turned out to be my worst.
8th grade had its good times but there was also a lot of drama, especially when it came to relationships and friends. It's when everyone started to care about where they sat in the rank of popularity, how they looked, who they hung out with, and who they dated.
A lot of people who answered seemed to hate the 7th grade, however I really enjoyed it. I became friends with people I never expected to get along with and barely anyone cooked up drama.
I'm a freshman right now and I'm most definitely enjoying the 9th grade and high school over all. For some reason I seem to take it less seriously than when I did in elementary school. Good grades come easy for me here and my stress level has hit rock bottom, for the most part. I've also made tons of friends on top of the friends I already had in elementary school. A lot of people have changed to attain a certain reputation in high school to impress people who never knew them and trick them into thinking they've always been "this cool". We call those the fake or two-sided people who are secretly disliked by the majority of the school population.
My advice to you is to be yourself and be friends with the people you're comfortable with. Ignore the cliques, they mean nothing. Like myself, you'll probably find yourself hanging out with different people from different "groups" if of course you take the clique boundaries for granted. Be a social butterfly and have people, not like you in fear, but because they simply love you for who you are. That's what I think makes someone cool.
4th grade. I was an extremely social butterfly when I was younger and very outgoing, and my mama wanted to try homeschooling that year. It was hell lol. I couldn't wait to go back to school when 5th grade rolled around. I did end up homeschooled again in 7th and 8th, but we thought we were moving to Arizona (my parents life long dream to live in Tucson and we finally did the summer after 8th) and ended up not being able to move and we lived with my grandparents and I was out of my district. My mom couldn't drive me, and we thought we were gonna just move back into the district so she homeschooled me again instead of shuffling me between districts. I appreciated it those two years though. I started school at 6am (I WANTED to lol) and was off by noon. My two older sisters were in college, so I'd double up on school work if they were coming home for vacation so I'd get extra days off with them. And I was done with the year by April :D.
Sorry went off on a tangent there haha. But 11th was my favorite (know you didn't ask but I'll share anyways). I was extremely involved in choir all through high school, and my junior year, we were ASKED to perform at Carnegie Hall in NYC! Every other choir was professional, and they had to audition and we, a HIGH SCHOOL choir, were asked! We did have to technically do an audition after being asked to meet the rules. But those 5 days in NYC in April 2005 were the BEST 5 days of my entire high school experience (besides ditching class to hang out with my husband, then boyfriend haha)
my worst grade was definatley 5th grade I switch to another school and I was homeless, living out of a car with my mother after her leaving an abusive relationship and frequently living at friends and family houses so I could at least shower and have somewhere warm to stay. The kids were really mean at the new school too because at that age they just don't understand and of course they didn't know my situation or my home life. But they were really cruel saying things to me about my hair or my clothes not being washed. I came home everyday crying and being so sad and mad at my situation and wondering why I couldn't just have a "normal" life like all the other kids. Luckly someone came through and put up some money for an apartment for us and we got back on our feet and I switched to yet again another school but this time with a cleaner slate. I really don't like to discuss that chapter of my life, it was a really bad year because on top of being homeless and having to witness an abusive relationship between my mother and her boyfriend and experiecing the abuse myself, I also had the deaths of 2 of my grandparents and an uncle whom I was really close with. Most of my friends to this day do not know that period of my life.
Wow you really went through a lot. Thanks for sharing.

I agree with everyone else's answers. Middle school was probably the most torturous time for me as well. Picked on, shunned out of groups, other kids eating my lunch, the works. I had been going to school with these kids since about kindergarden, and it was horrible.
High school improved for me around 10th grade, because I moved to Florida for 2 years. The end of my sophomore year and junior was probably the best time of my high school career. For one, I finally got tired of being picked on, and started standing up for myself, I had my first boyfriend, and for the first time, I met real cool people who liked me for who I was. Also all I did in high school was smoke weed(hehehe) and hang out at the youth center. Don't really know how I passed the 11th grade, but I did with a 3.0! HA! This was back in 2002, and to this day I still talk to all of my Florida friends.
High school is a big change, it will be tough the first year cause ur gonna be a freshmen, or FRESH MEAT as they called us, lol. But it will more than likely be better, because that's when you figure out who you are as a person, and once you do, life is great. Trust me, I'm 23 years old now, and the second I decided to not let people treat me any kind of way, life's been great.
P.S. most of the "popular" people that pick and make fun of you now, will not be the same by the time you're 23. I've recently seen some of the girls who used to make fun of me in middle school and they look like utter crap! =)
3rd Grade teacher was a closed-minded, opinionated redneck who loved to Force Christianity upon us. He'd always call my parents because I'd sit in class giving him a cynical look.
4th grade was a different school where all of the students were complete assholes.
So I got in trouble very frequently for bitch slapping them around. I once even got "peer mediating" for darting this kid in the neck with a pencil.
As surprised as I was to have been able to make that shot from so far back, there's nothing quite like having 5th graders read off a sheet of paper and try to council you on what you've done.
7th grade, everyone thinks they're a gangster, but no one's willing to meet you in the middle of the woods alone where you can settle your differences like real men.
They'd rather try to fight you at school where they know the school officials are going to break it up.
Yea, I was kind of a messed up kid, but you're not born that way.
I finished middle school in Japan, so the rest of middle and high school were chill.
I'm a pacifist now, so no more abusing the other kids for their douchebaggery, lol.
ummmm well 8th grade wasn't so bad but 6th and 7th grade were terrible. I didn't have very many friends. I was considered to be the smartest girl in my grades but fortunately I wasn't considered to be a nerd or anything. I sucked at sports so gym was one of my worst fears through out those years plus our coach was one of the meanest people I have ever met. My 8th grade year was ok and I really started to find myself and make more friends. But my ex boyfriend and I broke up several times which was really hard for me. Now I'm not going to a regular high school like most of my peers did. I am going to an early college to get both a high school and college education for free. I have tons of friends and one great guy friend who will probably very soon become my boyfriend and we don't have sports so I have one less chance of embarrassing myself in front of my friends. My grades are also doing great and all of my teachers are really nice and they like me. I know that my teenage years are going to be a lot better than my past years in elementary school.
yes, it will get better if you have the right attitude. you also need the right school, teachers, and classmates for you. ofcourse nothing on earth is perfect but you have to be in a situation that is bearable. 7th and 8th grade was definately the worst for me. combination of bullying because of racial, sexuality, and intelligence matters; parents fighting all the time; and teachers not caring at all when you desperately need help.
now I'm in a great high school with great classmates and teachers :)
I hated 6th grade because I had to start over and make new friends. Luckily, I fit in since everyone was just starting middle school and most came from four or five different elementary schools. I also didn't like 9th grade year not because I was in a different school but because it was sooo boring!
My fav year so far was 8th grade year because of how fun it was. But who knows. That all will probably change since I'll be 16 in two months and sophomore year is coming up.
Anyways, you know how most school districts have like 5 different high schools for you to choose to attend to? Well in my district, there is one middle school and one high school. I'm basically stuck with the same friends/classmates for 7 years lol. I'm not complaining though. High school isn't as tough because of that =).
High school has its ups and downs. But I'm almost to my senior now and by the end of it all your memories good and bad will be fun to look back on. I absolutely hated hated 6th and 7th grade. They were terrible years for me. HS wasnt nearly as awkward as middle school. 9th grade is still an adjustment but by 10th and 11th its so much fun. Just remember its all about having a good time and don't have any regrets. Do what you love and want to do and it will be a good experience. Highschool is about becoming who you really are for the rest of your life. All the choices you make are important, but not always as dramatic as parents will make them out to be. Just remember to enjoy every moment of it because it goes by SO FAST and there will be times when you want to be done, but in the end high school are the greatest years of your life so trust me you'll enjoy them good or bad. :]
Grade 4 (it took me a while to catch on to multiplication and division) and grade 10. For us people in Canada, this is the grade where all your marks start to appear on our transcripts and everything (especially Math) started getting harder. We had to worry about provincial exams and it proved to be a very stressful year. I'm not sure how it works in the states, but I can promise you that it will only get harder. When you get into high school, make friends/sit next to smart people and in the meantime, develop good/better homework and study habits. That's about all the helpful information I can offer.
the summer aftr 6th grade wuz hell for me because I suffered A LOT of heartbreak and I lost my best friend over 1 of those heartbreaks. then I got into 7th grade and I got a new bf...but the girl who used to like him strted spreading rumors abt me and tried to get all my friends against me then 8th grade I had to leave my boyfriend of 2 years because we were going to seperate highskewls and we knew it wudnt work out because he wuz always busy with sorts afterskewl and on the weekends...i pretty much hated the freaking hell out of middle skewl...hs...no comment becuz I'm stil fighting tht battle but middle skewl will always be the worse unless somehting horrible happens to me in the rest of hs...
My freshman year of high school was a nightmare. I started a new school and knew absolutely no one except for a guy who had gone to treatment with me. On top of that, things just went downhill for me. There were a few suicide attempts and I started back to cutting. Then I was sexually assaulted by a close friend and then I lost everyone because I told the truth about what happened. Then the guy who sexually assaulted me told me to go kill myself and I tried to. Two days later I ended up in the hospital because the medication I was on almost killed me. I really hated freshman year. I'm so glad I'm a junior now.
10th grade - for some reason, all my friends changed. I pretty much lost all the friends I'd had since 5th grade. Luckily I made new ones, but it was really tough. And it's not like we grew apart; they just decided that they didn't want to be friends with me anymore and were actually quite mean about it.
Middle school was never that bad for me. My hormones were raging just like everyone else's so I just kinda went with it, lol. Don't worry, soon enough you'll be in college, which is far better than middle and high school (at least in my experience).
First off, if you are 18-24 shouldn't you already know what high school is like? Well I am going to assume you are a 9th grader. I hated middleschool alot. It was all about clicks and being in the "cool" crowd, and being like everyone else. Well High school you can be your own person, or at least in my school you could. Just be your self in high school and do what you want to do, like sports join a team, like school clubs, join a club, like smoking reefer (even tho I don't smoke my high school was a stoner school) then smoke, like just hanging out with guys, do that.
Now the school work I found to be pretty easy in high school, I usually got it all done during class, but not to brag, I never really have found school to be hard, so it may be different for you. I guess that's about it.
I'll not write about grades or so (our European school system is too different from the American, but in age, I'd say, my worst period was from 14 to 16- that's called lower grade middle school here.
Why? Hormones raging and very clumsy: until then I hadn't met ANY girl.:-P (girls, those strange attractive creatures coming from Venus ;)
BTW
If anyone has a link to a site where the American school system is clearly explained (ages for grades, ages for college, high school, junior H.S., sophomore, senior, university, length of studies etc, etc) , it would help me a lot and save me much guesswork, analysis and errors.
thnx !
Elementary school lasts from Kindergarten (also called pre-first, which normally begins at age 5 or so) to 5th grade.
Middle School (also called Junior High School) lasts from grades 6 through 8 (roughly ages 11-13).
High school lasts from grades 9 through 12, which are referred to as Freshman (9), Sophomore (10), Junior (11), and Senior (12). Graduating high school means completion of all the MANDATORY school and usually happens at around ages 17-18.
College/University can begin at any age. There are people in their 50s in college/university. It can be divided into 4 categories:
Assoicate Degree students, who will only study for two years.
Bachelors Degree students, who will study for four years.
Masters Degree students, who normally study for 5-6 years.
Doctorate students, who normally study for 7-8 years.
This is of course they are doing college full time.
Ok, saved it, thnx :)
In continental Europe it differs quite a bit by country but it looks like this:
@3yrs Kindergarten
@5 or 6 years Primary school
@12yrs College (lower middle school)
@15 or 16yrs Lycaeum/Athenaeum (higher middle School) ends with Bac(baccalaureat-FR) (or Abitur -G) degree @18rs
at 18/19 University or High School results in a Bachelors degree after 2 or 3yrs or a Masters' after 4,5 or 7 years (Masters and Bachelors is recent terminology)
After that the phD or MD
ummmmmmmmm 9 and 10 was hell for me... the people at this school were really stuck up and bitchy. they were just rude, mean and cruel. I'm not saying I was like "a loser/emo' blah blah blah.. they are just not the kind of people I wanted to surround myself with.
I hated 10th and 11th grade, ilost all my friend in one day and I spent these two years loosing many friends and I couldn't figure out what was wrong. Also school was starting to get really hard and the work was too stressing for me at those years. So, yeah, 10th and 11th grade were definitely my worst.
8th. I got suspended for making a MySpace about the school and putting rumors on there. I also got into a fight with the 3 worst girls in my grade. o_0
i don't know if highschool gets better because I'm going there this year. *hopes I don't get killed*
10th grade. Moved out of town and started a new school for 'gifted' folks. I hated the people, they were pretty much all phonies. The courses were anything but easy, especially math and physics.
In less than 6 month I became severly depressed. Heavily medicated, suicidal, grades dropping because of it. Worst part, my best friend was murderd. Still have mental pictures of her blood all over the street.
5th grade: my teacher called me stupid, I was tested and had a 162 IQ, I laughed in her face.
3rd grade: had emotional problems, and was very OCD, and couldn't cope. bad year.
11th grade: serious home problems, grades failing, and no snowboarding. and I was single all year,
Worst part.
IT'S NOT OVER!
I'm so glad I'm in college now because people for the most part are more mature and grown up. Middle school sucked. High school sucked even more. The worst was junior year high school: prepping for college, exams, workload was crazy. I ended up only sleeping like 4-5 hours each night. I did have my own group of friends though and we just ignored all the obnoxious, "I'm hot shit" kids and it was alright.
although I'm still in highschool I really want to answer this question the worst grade for me was 7th grade, a lot of bullshit happen in that grade a lot of tragedies a lot of fights, a lot of family issues and 8th grade wasnt good either that's when my mommy died and I was scared for my friend about her getting pregnant just as I said a whole bunch of stuff happened in them two grades
Middle school as a whole was HORRIBLE for me. Kids were so mean and immature. I think its just those fresh new teenager hormones rushing through their veins. I can almost promise you high school will be better. People will grow up and learn how to act (not all but some).
8th grade and my freshman year were the worst. Mainly because I moved in the middle of my 8th grade year and all the friends I made in 8th grade ended up going to a different high school. I didn't really find a comfortable niche until I hit my junior year. By the time I was a senior I pretty well known but at that point didn't care because I had a strong set of core friends. Once you find the place you are comfortable in it helps a lot.
That whole span of seventh to ninth and some e of tenth was pretty hellish. Just because of all of the emotions and my parents went through a nasty divorce around then. But, yeah, high school gets a whole lot better when you have a car and start to work and are able to be more of your own person and start knowing what you like and want.
Everybody goes through those hellish years, but hopefully you'll come out a better person.
8th grade because everyone is so awkward and two-faced
don't worry, higschool is much better. not saying people will stop being two-faced but you will have so many new opportunities for friends and activities!
I absolutely detesteddddd 5th. I hated it because I didn't like beinggg away from my mom and I was attt a different school--we hadd 5th-8th at the "middle school" I got like a c on my progressss reposts but not on the report cards. :P
Junior and Sophmore year was hell to me. It wasn't the workload; it was the crazy teenaged kids I went to. School is easy for me but I hated high school for the most part.
11th grade is killing me my grades in La, Chemisry and Math have gone down because i honstly have not been paying much attention because of my panic attack disorder and i like listening to music other then listening and im constley failing every test because chemistry tests during tri 2 and tri 3 where are so hard
Definetly 7th grade...ur new and everything.plus there's only older kids where I went..and bulling was a problem..and I'm not a prepy popular..so yeah. You see where I'm going with this! =]
7th grade first time I got a C I was so bummed and disappointed with myself...and I say that high school will be better personally I enjoyed and I didn't want it to end.. I made a lot of friends basically because I was moving private schools... this was surprsing to me because I am very shy... the best way to go into it is to have a positive attitude and don't listen to all the rumours and stories that might make you nervous :)
My sophomore year was a nightmare. My friends started dating each other and I was really happy for them, and then they broke up. I was torn between the two. And then my grades started declining, my parents practically had divorce written all over their faces, and then there was the time everybody thought I was a lesbian, which I'm not. Nobody would even talk to me. By the end of the year, I seriously wanted to jump off a bridge. But at least I made it through.
My junior year was kind of rrough trying to stay in school and what not I just felt pressure a lot of it.Senior year is going pretty freaking awesome I'm loven it.=]
for me it was kindergarten because I was the only person in my class that didn't know english. so ill describe with 1 word how it felt... HORRIBLE. I still get goosebumps thinking about it
7th was the worst for me. It should get better, but 50% of that is going to be up to you. Try to make as many friends as you can and be as friendly as possible. Pay attention in your classes, do all of your homework and you'll be fine.
In 7th grade I had these 3 girls that were like my sisters since the first grade. Then this new girl came to the school, became friends with mine. At first I thought they were just being friendly but then they spending less time with me and less. Later that year my best friend (at the time) told me she thought I was a loser for being in special needs and pushed me to the ground. That's I stopped being friend with these bitches. Made new buddies in high school.
8th grade was hell! then 9th wasn't too bad...10th is when everything got better and now its all perfect:)
1st because by that time, people were realizing I was deaf and picking on me because I was a mute then I got tubes 3 to 4 times
ughhhh 7th grade wassss helll for me =[ omg kids can be so f***** cruel
but high school got better for me
Freshman year of HS wuz absolute hell for me lol. It was like me and my friends against half the school and all of the teaching staff. It was just bad
yeah, high school will probably be better. worst grade... 8th. I got into a huge fight with my ex friends and now we don't talk.
junior year academically. a lot went on, but, middle school wasn't great socially. it depends on the school though.
"...and I want to know if high school will be any better"
Yet your age is listed as 18 to 24.
Well...what was it that made 8th grade so bad?
7th grade was the worst because people were so mean and I was really shy. 8th grade a little better. Senior year is the best!
Well I'm a junior right now, and my worst year is my junior year! A lot of work, I never had advanced classes so maybe that's why its kind of hard for me
I hated 9th and 6th! 11th and 12th were most enjoyable
5th-6th grade. Academically fine., but the peers at that age were just awful.
junior year was the worst. SAT, ACT exit exams getting ready for college applicaitons
8th grade all the way up through high school was awful.
Why did 8th grade suck for you? I had a demon of an algebra teacher who refused to help me when I came in for help in the morning and who picked on me in class because I was an atheist, (I guess we both thought the other was the devil.) after that, I never got above a C in math, at least not until my first year of college.
3nd grade was the worst lol evry I was put in anger management 4 sumthing I didn't do or say
grade 12 because that's when I lost my grandpa and also because of the stress of graduation.
7th grade sucked.
6th and 8th were oddly great. lol
middle school was awful. highschool is so much better especially as an upperclassmen
I hated my 3rd grade year almost got left back and had the teacher from Hell. She had my brother first than I came around and she told me I was an idiot and would never catch up to my bro what a fu-king biatch.
Worst grade was sophomore year of high school. Everything bad you could think of went down. But everyone is different and high school is what you make of it, so just enjoy it and don't regret things. Life will get easier when you let it
7th grade was real bad but High School was great really got into sport
I only had 2 grades that were good. That's 2nd and 6th. The rest were bad.
I would have to say my junior year in high school because every thing had became harder. I started argueing with my girlfriend with lead us to have a off and on relationship?
7th grade sucked for me. High School was okay, but middle school was rough.
definitely 5th grade for me. I got into big trouble at the time and it screwed me up for years.
10th grade because I had no friends. I ate lunch everyday by myself. It sucked big time.
11th grade- hardest classes, too many test.
9th grade, my freshman year
