I dropped out of school at age 12 after the gut-wrenching loss of my dad to cancer the year before.

Age 18 to 21-ish. - I aced the GED, and took two years of training in becoming an electromechanical technician, the career that has paid my way through life.

Self-education has continued to this day in the fields of music theory, musical performance on various instruments, the building of guitars, the mathematics needed to build guitars, philosophy, sociology, psychology, the list goes on.

I study life. Some aspects of life are more interesting to me than others.

I'll soon be 65.

What one-or-two-word level of education can one say that I have, and have that "grade" level be truly meaningful.

Dropout, blue collar, experienced, faltered and got back up, advanced, and ever-seeking are all terms that COULD describe me, but would they describe me completely?

I also have never well controlled bipolar disorder, which manifests in a non-existent sleep schedule and a proclivity to work long, long hours to the point of collapse.

In other words, there is much more to enriching a person than just a formal education.

Your question is an interesting one, provoking of thought.

I'm roughly a 3 year G@G member, recently back here after a 5 month hiatus.
The trolls were really getting to me.

In the few days that I've been back, things seem to have improved a bit as far as behavior goes.
I'm being very careful as to how and when I engage on G@G, so I might be seeing the better side these days than I was pre-hiatus.

Still, though, as you seem to concur, I have great concern for the future of the worlds' languages as they are being treated in present times.

@sparkie460 I went part time at night. I was able to transfer 3 semesters from another college but I took 27 courses over the course of 5 years. Then started grad school the next September and it took me another 3 years to take 16 courses for my Masters.

yeah, I get that. but nobody comes on a job knowing everything. I have hired many technicians and at first it would have been easier for me to do it myself but after a while i could let them loose in the wild.

Most of the answers make ME wonder if any of them went to school!! The spelling is atrocious, the syntax is outrageous, the grammar is practically infantile!
I had 3.5 years of college. It wasn't steady, it was just some here, some there, mostly just the subjects I wanted to take rather than the full course, although I DID take some of those, too.
