Were you ever lucky enough to be among the top rankers all over the country?

So I gave CMAT exam for business schools. I was in the tension of my internship semester thanks to my "very nice" guide.

I did not do any kind of revision, no study, nothing. General knowledge 0. Just went there and gave the exam. Of course, my experience from JEE taught me a thing or two. I applied them in this exam.

But I managed to score 98.56 percentile and 836 rank All India Rank.

These are the perceniles. Percentiles are the percentage of students behind me.

I am surprised myself that I got 99.8 percentile in English. And the last one as well, Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

My case is nothing. Someone I know, he is a working guy, got All India Rank 10 in this exam. That guy is truly a legend for such amazing rank while working full time.

I won't say these kind of tests and scores are completely meaningless. But they are not nearly as important as what a person does with it. When it comes to applying it in the real world, there are people with scores in the bottom 20% who will completely run circles around people in the top 1%.

Yes, there is a correlation, but it's not nearly as strong as many people think. It's not what you've got, it's what you do with it. There are several other traits that are FAR more important than how well someone does on one of these tests.

When I took standardized tests like the PSAT, SAT, GMAT, GRE, and LSAT, I almost always scored in the 98th or 99th percentile on every submeasure. I think I just have a knack for standardized testing.

That’s really impressive. I did really well on the SAT and was ranked one of the top test takers in my country.

Yeah. In most disciplines/sports/jobs etc. Too much effort, though.
