Is mythology worth studying in your opinion?

Seems like a waste of time to me. That kind of thing is leftover remnants from the past, when formal education was mostly for nobility and the upper crust.

Nowadays education is far more practical, out of necessity. There is only so much time for formal education, and that time needs to be used wisely. Studying the classics is not using the time wisely. Time studying one thing means time not studying something else. There are other things more important to study.

The education system is hanging onto the distant past in that regard. People are spending more and more years of their lives in formal education. Nowadays people are not even entering their adult life until their mid 20s, and even 30 for people getting advanced degrees. The whole process needs to be streamlined.

I understand and agree with SOME general education, but I don't consider mythology to be part of it.

The most basic of understanding these humans... Charles Gustav Yung-type stuff. Archetypes and all of that. You'll notice the same stories or the same types of heroes displayed over and over in biblical books and writings. It will make you start to wonder why... some interesting stuff.

Yes the storys and stuff they got are imagentive and expand the world view in intresting ways ooening a big thing of "Why and how" that can really elvate its enjoment beyond the story

Also knowing it, that is the base for many stories and tales that come later, helps to spot and notice it adding more intrest in anything you read later

Yes, it probably won't get you a job in that field but it's a good basis for learning to be a writer. Also an understanding of mythology tends to denote intelligence and education in other fields.

Yes, it's interesting and helps you understand people. When you get older, you might visit places with mythology ties (ex: Athens Greece, Rome Italy) and having an understanding of mythology will help you understand what you see.

It could also open job opportunities for you. Archaeology, for example.

I think mythology has been a tool used in the past to teach people many things like morals, but you need to look at it from the right perspective, because it's also used to manipulate people.

Help the poor, do not kill others, don't steal, don't fuck with nature, have respect for things around you; There's many good lesson to be had. But don't let it control you and don't "believe". Take everything as it is, just stories told long ago.

I have never studied it but I read it in the past.  It is fun and interesting but I’d spend my time studying science or something else, practical - a language, a skill.

Yes but depends on your objective. Do I think you should get a PhD and become a professor? Nope. But learn about it? Absolutely yes -- especially considering where you are!

I personally think so. I find it to be rather fascinating. It may lead you towards studying religions as well to a degree.
