What would you do if you were a teacher and a student spits on you?

Claim to be traumatized and sue the parents in civil court.
Ruin the kid's life.

Sue his parents and then use the judgement to take his parents house and make them homeless.

Spitting on someone is a deliberate act of assault. It's pretty easy to prove in court especially with video evidence from the cameras that are in the classrooms these days.

Well if the child is autistic it isn't much you can do about it.

Crime is crime... It doesn't matter if you are autistic. You still get charged if someone files a complaint and there is evidence.

I've been a teacher before. I've dealt with problem students before. I had one kid that liked to talk trash and throw around hollow threats thinking he could scare people. I was nice enough to talk to security and get him mentored over the issue. The mentor (an excop) yelled at him in his office and told him he can't do that., Told the kid he was lucky I didn't talk to the school police about it or he would have gone to jail. They moved the kid to a different teacher so he would repeat the same mistake.

There are literally cameras in every class recording everything. When kids commit crimes it's all on tape. There are multiple cops on every campus. It's really simple if you want to go that route...

Well as a teacher you have to be able to laugh at a lot of things... It is what it is. When they get to off the walls you have to kick them out. I don't know that Rosa Parks is where I'd draw the line, but you have to run your class how you see fit.

If the student is over 16 years of age, I'd sue for assault and battery. If the student is under 16 years of age, I'd drag them to detention until they can be suspended. I'd also reach out to the parents to discuss their behavioral issues and suggest therapy.
