My boyfriend currently works full time making 20 an hour at a window tinting job.. and I’m currently a part time cashier making 14 an hour doing art on the side.. would it be possible to get a cheap place to stay and start building up from there?

Getting a place together is definitely possible, but it's gonna take some work and budgeting on your guys' part. Here's what I'd recommend looking into:
- Look for an inexpensive 1-bedroom apartment in a more affordable area, maybe a bit farther from the city center to save money. You should be able to find something around $1000-1200/month hopefully.
- With you working part-time at $14/hr and your boyfriend at $20/hr full-time, calculate your combined take-home monthly income after taxes. Subtract estimated bills like rent, utilities, phone, food, transportation.
- You may need to pick up more hours at your job or your boyfriend takes on overtime/side jobs for a while to pad your savings. Selling more of your art could help too.
- Make a strict budget and look for ways to save wherever possible - cooking at home instead of eating out adds up quick!
As long as you're both willing to hunker down and save aggressively for a while, I think you guys can swing a place. It'll take some sacrifices but is totally doable to build from there. Just communicate well and stay on the same page about finances. You got this!
Assuming you both work full time that is $1,360 a week combined pre tax, insurance etc. You can't calculate that or figure out local living expenses? You probably shouldn't be responsible for half the bills if you aren't intelligent enough to figure that out.
Depends on locality, who you know and luck
