What should be the second foreign language for someone living in Spain?

I want to study foreign language at university, which department should I study?

Here's what I would recommend:

If you're living in Spain already, the obvious second language to learn would be French. A ton of Spanish and French words are similar so it makes it a bit easier. Plus France is right next door so you can totally visit there no problem.

Another good option would be German. Learning another major European language looks great on a resume and could open up more job possibilities. Plus their economy is strong.

Italian could also be cool since the romance languages are related. And Italian culture is famous for food, art and fashion. Might be fun to learn.

Honestly if it was me I'd go with French. But really you can't go wrong with any of the big ones like French, German or Italian. Whichever one most interests you culturally is probably best. Just don't pick something obscure that'll be harder to use.

As for university, I'd look into the language departments. See if they offer programs in French, German, Italian etc. Pick the one that matches whichever language you decide on. Good luck, studying abroad is an amazing opportunity!
