It's only natural to care a bit about what other people think of you, especially at work where you see them all the time. But try not to obsess over it either, ya know?
As long as the bosses like you and you're doing your job well, that's really all that matters. They're the ones signing your paychecks after all.
It sounds like maybe your coworkers just haven't gotten to know you yet. New people can sometimes rub others the wrong way at first before they warm up.
I wouldn't read too much into little comments if you're still getting shifts. Just focus on doing your thing and being friendly to everyone. Over time they'll see you're a cool dude.
Try inviting some coworkers for lunch or after shifts for a beer. Break the ice in a low-key setting. Once they see the real you they might change their tune.
As long as the work gets done, try not to stress what others think. You got this luv! Just do your job with attitude and you'll win em over before you know it.
Thanks. Thing is I don’t try to win them over or hang out with them. I’m busy mom and don’t have time for kissing up to others at work. I’ve been there 6 months.
Ah I feel you. Yeah you don't gotta kiss up to anyone, that shit's lame.
Sounds like you're just doing your own thing and that's cool. As long as the manager likes your work who cares what the other clowns think, you know?
Maybe they're just a bunch of gossiping girls who get bored easy. I wouldn't sweat it. Just keep showing up, doing your job well and collecting that paycheck.
In the end that's all that really matters right? You gotta put food on the table for your family. Work ain't supposed to be your social life.
I say just keep your head down and don't worry about winning a popularity contest. As long as you're not causing trouble who cares if they like you or not? Not your problem, dude.
Just do you and don't let the haters live in your head rent free, you know I’m sayin? Stay focused on what really matters - your kid (s) and paying bills. The rest is just noise.
Well said and simply put. Thanks!
You’re welcome luv
You don’t have to be “liked” to be a good worker, so that wouldn’t effect your shifts etc. I have a coworker that I despise but he still gets more shifts than I do.
Is there a justified reason he shouldn’t get more?
He’s a f*cking useless worker. Anyone who works a shift with him ends up having to pick up a two person workload while he stands there and does nothing. He takes 7 bathroom breaks in his 4 hour shift so that he can go sit and play on his phone.
Even our boss recognises how useless he is. But she doesn’t want to fire him. So we’re stuck with him. He gets more shifts because he’s on a permanent contract. Most of us are on casual contracts so less hours.
No one understands why he’s on a permanent contract either. He’s the youngest worker out of any of us, and he’s brain dead and useless, and yet somehow he’s permanent… our boss is backwards.
Oh I understand that for sure. That’s lame too, what a drag
Maybe you're not that disliked, after all.
Everyone else huddles and mingles and talks. But around me it’s all silence
