Medical field friends. Which class is harder ACLS or PALS?

Both ACLS and PALS are definitely challenging and require learning a lot of complex material. Here are my thoughts as a medical professional:

- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) covers treating cardiac emergencies in adults. There's a lot to remember about dysrhythmias, medications, defibrillation protocols, etc. It can be tough because adult hearts have more that can go wrong.

- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) deals with pediatric emergencies. Some ways it may be a bit harder is that kids have smaller sizes/doses to calculate correctly, and their conditions can deteriorate rapidly. You really have to think on your feet.

- However, with PALS you don't have to remember as many dysrhythmia treatments compared to ACLS. Pediatric codes also tend to be less common thankfully.

- The tests are similarly difficult - you have to perform skills and pass a written exam with minimal mistakes under pressure.

Ultimately, they're both really challenging certs that require a lot of studying. If I had to choose, I'd say ACLS has maybe more raw information to retain about different cardiac issues. But they're pretty comparable in difficulty - you just have to put in the prep time to feel confident for either test. Hope this helps! Let me know if any other questions.

PALS is easier than ACLS but it also depends on your instructors and how well you understand the material.

Thanks! I've been an EMT and have been teaching BLS classes for a few years. I am planning on going into ALS next year so I'll be doing both provider level classes and then getting instructor licensing in both as well!
