How did you get your student loans canceled?

No one gets them canceled unless they can file for PSLF (Public Service Loan Forgiveness) but that requires that you have a public service job (state certified teacher, police officer, nurse, doctor, firefighter, etc.) or work for a public institution (like a public university) AND make on-time payments on your loans for 10 years. The only other way is if you file a Borrowers Defense Loan Discharge application but it’ll get denied if the school you attended didn’t break any laws/close down/do anything unethical. Otherwise, we’re screwed. Happy Garnishments!

File a Borrow’s Defense application on the studentaid dot gov site. Wouldn’t hurt to try.

I had a scholarship thanks to my high grades and didn’t have to pay a cent.

I don’t know how it works over there. My guess would be they’ll be canceled after being paid.
