everyone procrastinates, but in college i have been doing that to extremes. its not that i hate it, I love my subjects and all. also i am very scared coz its hard and that might be one of the reasons, but thats not all. any reasoning you guys have about this and how this is or isn't normal?
Here are some thoughts on why college procrastination tends to be more extreme:
- Way more freedom and less structure than high school. It's easy to blow off work when you're on your own schedule.
- Classes are way bigger so it's not like the teacher is breathing down your neck. They don't even know your name.
- Workload is heavier but expectations aren't as clearly defined. It's unclear how much is "enough."
- So many distractions - living on your own, parties, new friends, etc. Too easy to get sidetracked having fun.
- Some material is more challenging than before so it induces more stress and anxiety to start.
- Long term assignments stretch out over weeks vs days in HS. Hard to see the urgency.
- Fear of failure combined with newfound freedom leads to avoiding work at all costs.
I'd say it's pretty normal man. Just gotta learn to manage your time better before too long or it'll seriously bite you. Baby steps, maybe set mini deadlines and reward yourself after. You got this!

Stop doing it, just get things done without any motivation. You'll be thankful to yourself in future.
