Are you jealous of people with higher salary better career better lives?

I (27 y/o) always compare myself with my friends with better jobs higher salary and have boyfriends who spoil them while Im still single and working with much lower salary its like I only work to just pay bills can't even have vacation or buy luxury. I dont have savings either because I support my family but even though my salary is low I can still help my family plus I support my nephew his parents are not around. His mother (my own sis) died and his father is in rehab so Im basically acting as his parent. Whenever I see my friends on social media that they are going to concerts, buying luxury things and having a vacation or makes me feel jealous because I can't even afford those things they have better paying job and I feel bad not even having my own savings. Like I feel like Im jealous the most is them having better jobs and higher salary. Like I feel like Im left behind.

I learned that it’s never helpful to compare yourself with other people we’re all very different from each other and I find that making comparisons gets you no where. The most important thing is that you have a roof over your head, some clothes and food.

Other people who you compare yourself too have their own challenges that you don’t get to see because people tend to not tell each other everything. We all have problems others are just really good at hiding them. I think you’ve already won you have a job and you can look after yourself 💯.

And it’s amazing that you’re using your salary to help so many of your family members not a lot of people would be willing to do that so I’m sure they appreciate you a lot 💗

Thanks. Sometimes I feel less. I hope so. Some of them dont really appreciate me. I only interact with good family members.

The truth is You are very valuable as a human being, you’re special, your life matters and you are important that’s why you exist here today. Your value is not determined by what you have or what you don’t have, it’s determined by who you are as a person, the kindness you show, the love you give, and the positive impact you have on others 🫶

Well yeah I think my insecurity stems from them being bullied me as a kid comparing me to others, making me feel less by insulting me saying Im not as pretty as others Im not as successful as others that I should be what she should have so when I grew up I keep comparing myself to others to be as successful as others to have what they have. I feel less. Im not jealous of my friends romatic relationship its just their better jobs and better salary/net worth is what Im jealous of. I guess I think when I get rich or somewhat well off I can be comfortable with money I can help and support my family members better. Im still struggling even though Im working.

Your feelings are completely valid and normal many of us get jealous I’m really sorry that you went through that. The thing is though jealousy is irrational and unhealthy that’s why you need to find ways to cure it by thinking realistically and seeing reality for what it is. The people who seem well of have problems in their life, they just don’t show it or talk about it. No one is well off because we all have problems 💯.

And you’re making sense life would be easier if we were rich 💯 but even as a rich person you’ll have problems, no one is immune to having problems in this world and even as a rich person your life won’t be easy, nothing in this life is ever easy at all. We’re all struggling with something no matter how rich you are 💯.

Nah, it just motivates/excites me more to do better.

Don’t compare yourself to others, we all have our own pace. If you want a higher paying job then think of ways to do that.

no. because i wouldn't wanna do what they had to and have to do to get that high salary in the first place. sure i would take that money but you gotta consider that money doesn't just magically appear in your bank account.
