Ever had a fight with your manager?

Question

Ok so long story short he’s making my life a living hell.

I handed in my resignation but the remaining time I have left is unbearable. He argues and picks on me every single HOUR in front of everyone.

Yesterday it got heated because we started arguing back and forth. Then he looked me in the eye trying to scare me and I did it back.

There is nothing that will make me go back there.

I got a doctors note for work stress and handed it to him by the end of the day so legally I have the right to not work there anymore until my resignation date

It sucks because I put in so much work into my career and this is happening.

First off, that situation sucks. Sorry you gotta go through that 😕 Unfortunately, a lot of people get into management just by power-tripping or being mean, so it's not surprising he acted that way. I also totally relate to what you said at the end. It really does suck to put your all into something and then have it negated or destroyed by someone else. I've been in that boat too, unfortunately. Now to answer your question, yes I have fought with my past managers. I'm a pretty laid-back guy, but there have been a few times I pushed back: My useless assistant manager kept cussing me out in front of customers on the busiest day of the year. He basically wanted to look like he was doing something while not actually working. The second time he did it I shot right back and told him to go hide in the office and let me handle things. This manager was pretty trash overall. He barely ever did anything except nap, was always mean to people, and didn't know anything about the industry.  
 
 I'd been doing 80-hour weeks for 6 months straight (without paid overtime) and it was starting to affect my health, so I told my manager I was going to take two weeks off from overtime and wasn't going to pick up any dropped shifts.  
 
 He called me the very first week and told me that people hadn't shown up and he needed help. He walked out of the store when I arrived and I realized that everyone HAD showed up.  HE  was the one dropping a shift. I called my regional manager and never saw him again. ANYWAYYY moving on 😂

Oh my God! I am so sorry! That is absolutely awful! Why's he doing this to you? I didn't k know you could get a doctor's note for work related stress, I should've done that.

To answer your question, I haven't but I thought about it but at the time I needed he job. Maybe if he'd been a dick or called me out for something specific when he fired me I would've. I thought about reporting him to the head honcho. I am pissed off that he's an incompetent hypocrite and is getting away with it, but at the this point, I honestly don't care anymore. I've argued with other higher ups though

You are very tolerant, I couldn't have endured that behavior. If anyone crosses my boundaries when it comes to disrespect, I give them the appropriate reaction to it.
As for your question, not an actual fight, but disagreements happen from time to time. It is a part of it.
If I was in your position though I couldn't have endured it. But that is just me.

if you're already quitting you might as well make him look like more of an idiot than he already is in front of everyone. Surely he's shown some incompetence in his job. Not likely he would give a good recommendation anyway, if he apparently doesn't like you

Fortunately I haven’t. I have great managers but I’ve seen people do this before.

I knew a manager who got into a major fight with the owners because someone else in the store was paid more then he was. He got chased out of the building I thought there was going to be a fist fight it was so bad.

I’m sorry this happened. Look it was all for a reason. Don’t think your hard work went in vain. You got a paycheck. Even though it was hell. Maybe you should sue

Yes , he was a moron and did not know anything about how to manage people. I argued with him constantly. He forced me to take over a position that I had no training or experience. He made promises to me that he did not keep. He left a couple of months safter that. I hope our paths cross again
