If your boss specifically only yells at you, is that some type of harassment?

Any boss who goes off on their employees like that doesn't have what it takes to be a good boss.
But however they go about it, singling out one employee is not necessarily harassment. Maybe the employee deserves it. It's possible it's some kind of personal dislike, but not likely. It might also be what's called constructive dismissal (or something like that). That basically means they are trying to get the employee to quit, without actually firing them.
I can only think of one company where the boss went off on employees like that (all of them, not just one.) He happened to be the CEO and president of the company, but he was super uptight and stressed. My direct boss was friends with most of the board of directors. They brought him in to fix some problems. When I told my boss how the CEO/Pres was going off on employees, he went to the board about it. The board banned the CEO/Pres from interacting with the employees.
Could be. Some clients I have think “doing their job well” means making underlings or vendors fear them. It’s toxic. HR is supposed to be the place for such grievances to be hashed out safely. Unfort that’s not the case.
I’d approach HR about an anon workmate harassing you. See their reaction. If you move forward with naming him…most likely HR will approach him and say calm it down. Which may work. If your boss finds out it’s you it could be detrimental. But then there are laws to protect you against bosses singling you out.
I would report that, that is definitely not normal. Unless you're the only one screwing up of course :p but even then yelling is not professional at all and should be reported.
Did you deserve it? Are you annoyed he's only telling at you when others are doing the same but getting away with it?
Not really it was a misunderstanding but he never talks like that to anyone

I haven't been yelled at by an adult since I was in technical training school in the air force lol.
If a grown adult is yelling at me over accounting matters now, there's going to be a problem.
Harassment? Maybe, that's a very broad category but either way allowing a behavior such as that to go unchecked even by a hierarchial superior only allows for further "harassment" in the future for lack of a better word.
Id say if that happens again, call it out but also still do a reflection on your own behaviors and try to deduce from their perspective why they'd single you out and or yell at you.
Could be. Of course I own the business and never yell at employees, but do sometimes get the brunt from clients who get upset because they forgot to order something and now need it ASAP for trial. From those people, I accept the abuse but bill accordingly.
it's not normal nor okay, your boss is being hostile for sure. I'm sorry that happened to you, I suggest making a report asap.
Well they dont much !! Maybe they talk to him and that's it
Yeah i guess you're right !! Who wants to keep working with someone like that
I think so and I would talk to them aside and tell them to knock it off or you’ll tell HR. Of course doing that will drive a wedge between you and your boss by that point you should probably quit and look for another job and in the meantime apply for unemployment insurance. You can’t ruin your health with bad management.
Yelling is harassment even if it's to everyone that's a toxic work place. Nothing gets through if you're just yelling at your staff
So that can definitely be a herrasment case
Absolutely.
Yes, if its done repeatedly, if the yelling in involves "you're fired", then no.
If the reason your boss yells at you is you can't do your job properly, you should be either trained for fired, not screamed at.
Yes. I seen a boss doing this year's ago to a guy. The guy knocked him on his ass. A lesson was learned.
in general, yelling is a type of harassment...
It's definite a sign he got me fucked up. :)
If it’s not in my job description, I ignore power trippers.
Yes, and it could have prejudicial overtones if you aren't a cisgender straight white male.
It depends, are you the one screwing up?
We all do at some poin but im the only getting yelled at
My colleague was scolded by HR for wearing sleeveless dress.
Yeah… reportable to HR.
Does this happen a lot?
Few times but I've noticed he doesn't do that to anyone else
Maybe report it
They dont do much honestly
I honestly am not sure then
Yes, I’d report him or quit
No it's a big 🚩🚩🚩 to get a new job
Yes. Bring it up with HR
Yes, or your boss has a hearing problem.
