Why do companies offer trainings but require you pay for them?

why in the world do so many organizations charge money for trainings? Don’t they realize people are trying to train in order to enter these careers, and probably have no career background experience to begin with, to even afford such prices? They don’t even pay you for the training.

Seeing things like that makes me feel hopeless at times. It’s disheartening.

I have never heard of such a thing. Normally if a company wants you to train, they pay for it.

On the other hand, if I understand it right, this is not required training for your job. If the training is not required, it's not as bad. It still seems pretty shady though.

What is this training for? Does it allow you to move up in the company?

In the past, it was even somewhat common for companies to have some kind of college reimbursement. I worked for a company that paid 60% of your college tuition. It's a nice perk if you are young and can take advantage of it. I went through 4-5 part time semesters that way. Some companies paid 100%.

Relatable. Student teaching is unpaid and a 4-5 month commitment but it's the only way to certification. Even when done as an undergrad you STILL have to pay tuition for that semester EVEN THO UR NOT ATTENDING ANY CLASSES and transportation, professional clothes, etc are all YOUR problem. I feel this!

I appreciate this on many levels. Thanks to someone who gets it. They’re not scams as some indicate they might be. There are plenty of well known organizations who have pricey fees as well. They expect you to pay for the equipment. Everything. They just hand you the info. But you have to find out how to survive and intake this knowledge, juggling the two.

It's a move to minimize the companies' financial risk. They want to be able to hire exactly who they want/need to hire without dumping a bunch of resources into getting the employees where they need to be.

They exist only to make money they don't care about your situation. Job training & education is very lucrative because people feel like they have to do it or they'll be stuck for ever. So they probably wanted some of that money too.

Because they aren’t real companies they are just trying to get your money from you , don’t waste your time on jobs like that , it’s all scams

Sometimes the company has free training on site sometimes I was sent to some facility for training. I worked for a place that offered tuition reimbursement for college courses I wanted to take. They called it professional development.
