Help! I hate my JOB?

Basically I was hired back in May- I had no idea this was an apprenticeship program, this is w/the city. For 5-months I was learning this very complicated job- har to take 3 assessments if you didn't pass 2nd time they cut you from the program! 1st off I was duped into this, no one told me in the interview that I wasn't officially hired on till I passed the program. After 5 months I got on my new team end of Sept. The job is very difficult, customer based and the pay seems high but my check is very low with the Mandatory retirement- they take out close to $400 month for that. I've made less $ and rcvd higher pay at pervious jobs. I'm literally getting by with 1 check for 30 day, because the last check goes all to rent!!!

The thing is I've had a difficult year and had a layoff, a few temp jobs and had to drive for Lyft to get by... many hiring managers see that and I'm not selected.

Also I want to move out of state where I used to live. Don't want to apply to bew jobs here if I wanna move back.

Advice? What should I do with a job I loathe...

- First, don't feel stuck just because you passed the apprenticeship. That was 5 months ago and you've learned it's not a good fit.

- Update your resume today - play up the customer service skills from this role even if you hated it. Get your application materials ready ASAP.

- Consider applying for remote jobs with companies based where you want to relocate. Some are open to hiring remotely first.

- If you can financially hack it for a bit, consider resigning before finding something new if this job is draining your mental health. Take a break in between.

- Ask your manager for a honest reference even if you don't last the full year. They'll understand wanting something that's a better opportunity.
