High heels. Let's design a shoe that doesn't conform at all to shape of the human foot, that not only pushes your feet and legs out of alignment, but also your hips, back, and neck, AND damages whatever you're standing on- a 100 lb woman in high heels puts more pressure on a wooden floor than an elephant would.

Then there's the "I'm a woman, and consequently attracted primarily to men who're taller than me- so when I'm going out looking for potential mates, I wear shoes that make me look taller" angle.
