Did you have to wear a Uniform at School? If so did you like it or hate it and why?

Yes we had school uniform and i loved wearing them, for us it was

I left my school just before they instituted uniforms. I’m very glad for that. I was much happier just having a dress code to follow instead as it allowed for more freedom of expression.

No - we were not forced to think in uniform/ed groups, but rather were encouraged to develop our very own genius.

I did and I didn't mind it. It meant there was not stress about what to put on in the morning and the idea that those in uniform were meant to be there and not some scroat from elsewhere coming in to cause trouble.

Now working in schools where uniformity is a dirty concept, it's difficult to tell which person is rightfully there and which could be a criminal. There was one school like this where 12 laptops were stolen when a "kid" or bunch went in to the locker rooms and rifled through bags and helped themselves to laptops, phones wallets etc. and all because there's no identifying marker that can distinguish the right ones from random others.

Uniform also removes the stigma attached to style and fashion demands that having one or two uniforms instead of 5 "going out" sets of gear that have to fit in with others made school a much easier place to fit in for all.

The arguments against it about "can't express themselves" is bunkum too. If you NEED to use clothing to express yourself then your character is obviously weak. Make up, piercings were never questioned and most of the girls who wore those things were generally sound enough to NOT seek attention for it.

Yes but I suppose it keeps us all the same as maybe the kids from poorer families can't afford everyday clothes or designer clothes that others may wear.

I have a skirt or dark trousers, with a blouse, and blazer.

We also have pe kit where I wear shorts, school polo top and barefeet.

I dint mind the uniforms too much

Used to hate it in the winter. Some of my friends at school used it to show off to the boys my rolling the waist of their skirt up to show off more of their legs and thighs, maybe undo a few shirt buttons and not wear a bra

Yes, schools without uniforms don’t really exist in my country. I didn’t mind it, we still had ‘mufti days’ sometimes where you could dress in your regular clothes for school.

in the 80s, we had kind of over shirt with a white collar... for boys shorter, for girls often to the knees... in all shades of blue :D

It works best in countries that demand conformity - America it wouldn't work lol uniforms for schools. Only in Commonwealth countries or Monarchies
