What was your most memorable field trip? From my (teacher) perspective NOTHING is more valuable & fun! GOTTA get out of that prison occasionally?

Field trips were another concept that I had to wrestle with in my teaching career. Initially I LOATHED them because supervising them is like herding squirrels on cocaine, the time & paperwork is insane, the lawyer imposed rules are prohibitive, the expense was tough for some families and handling students money was difficult, regulated and took a lot of valuable class time away.

Flash forward to when I recognized my humanity & obligations to them as the only person who can provide irreproducible experiences for a lifetime. I then tried to do as many as possible in the greatest place in the world for field trips - NYC!! Was it difficult, maddening & exhausting beyond mere mortals comprehension? YES! Was it worth it? EVERY MOMENT! I've had students tell me that those trips were simply amazing! Who wants to go to a museum with their parents when you can go with your besties? Packed lunch with Mom & Dad or lunch in Chinatown or Little Italy with your prom date? Even now when I speak to them, there will always be the "Do you remember when X threw up on the bus?" or "I didn't realize what a canoli was supposed to be until X bakery".

Anyway, what's your fondest memory?
