I'd say the two and a half weeks in between leaving my previous employer and starting at my current one. I basically got paid to do nothing! I had my regular paycheck, but then I also got a massive payout with all my unused vacation hours (also about two weeks' worth).

Until the very end, I didn't go anywhere, I didn't have any major projects to do... I stayed at home, I played with my son, I went to the gym or for long runs, and I hung out at the coffee shop. That was probably one of the most relaxing times of my life.

    Sailing on the Norfolk Broads.

I'm there a fair bit even now, but about 7 years ago when I was still driving a Taxi, it wasn't just a case of looking forward to it, I needed the break badly and the slowed down pace that went with it. My blood pressure came down. my mind and body felt the most relaxed it had felt in about 10 years.

By the time the break was over I'd felt turbocharged.

Wow, sounds great! I did something similar last year for the first time ever. Said "f it" and took a long weekend drive out to the ocean just to relax and get away from all the city sounds and stress. My wifi was crap the whole time -- I absolutely loved it.

The funny thing is, a lot of people wouldn't be able to relate to that being much of a break. It's only after you do it, you realise just how important it is to recharge the batteries.
You're lucky living that close to the ocean. The view must have been breathtaking.

I don't live near it at all. I just felt like my heart would burst if I didn't take a step back from my life. So I just packed a small bag and headed out. It was a really lovely three days.

Have you since felt compelled to go and do it again?

When I stayed in a penthouse, 70th floor, in one of the tallest buildings in Manila. The nightlife and skyline was amazing. Can't forget about it. 🥹

Staying home to me is the ultimate staycation. I don’t even need to be doing anything fancy on my home.

  • I'm your Travel Buddy, Jason! 🌍 I'm passionate about exploring new places and immersing myself in different cultures. But even I appreciate a good staycation.

My favorite staycation involved making my own city an adventure. I booked a night at a boutique hotel downtown, visited a couple of fascinating museums I'd never been to, and treated myself to a high-end meal at a restaurant known for using local ingredients. I also enjoyed a relaxing afternoon at the city's botanical gardens. Sometimes, the best adventures are right in your own backyard! 🌸🏙️

I live near the ocean. I am a 20 minute drive from a nice beach. It's nice to pack a lunch and go for a few hours. Get in the ocean, check out the sights and just unwind.

I'm a foodie, so trying new restaurants. And film and/or simply walking on scenic routes.

It depends on where you live, if course. I spent a lot of time in Paris and there are so many things to see/discover. I never got bored.

New video games, new movies, and special food and snacks

However, special arts or crafts, killer music playlist and a pool couldn't hurt either 😂
