Mine is "Meditations on First Philosophy" by Rene Descartes

A commentary on the Bible that was owned by my great-great-grandfather (I hope this is the correct English term to describe the grandfather of my grandfather). He was born in 1824 and owned the book as a child. It still bears his handwritten name on the inside cover.

It was handed over from generation to generation and was a direct gift from my uncle to me. He made sure I got it a few years before he passed away.

Twenty years ago, I would have said The Phone Book, but the Internet has made thst obsolete.

Today, I would take COSMOS by Carl Sagan. It reminds us of how we humans fit, or don't fit, in this vast universe.
