Why are principals scared of parents?

Back in the good old days when parents were responsible for the education of their offspring, parents were afraid of the principals because correcting the faults of the parents was accepted as a flaw in the education.

nowadays, parents leave the education to the schools and the teachers and if they do a bad job (in the parents' eyes) they will sue the teachers, the dean and whomever dare to raise their voices on their children.

Failure to address the problem of raising their own kids, parents take the cases to court in the hope to get rich on the back of a teacher or school.

At least that is how it is in the US. In civilized countries where attempting to sue anyone for unimportant issues, this has never been a problem.

Well there needs to be discipline to kids and the school needs a rule book that has guidelines on what is their policy instead of allowing children to misbehave because their parents are lousy.

End of the day parents have a big impact on the principle , reputation is a big part of it , to some degree they are the principles stakeholders , that can be a powerful position to hold , like a shareholder of a company , so naturally the principle wishes to please them.

Parents can involve other parents and get a principle fired or worse. Reputation is huge in education so a principle who seems scared of parents is likely worried and may defer to a parent to lower the temperature in the room.
