I just worked as a stock/cashier.. then dropped out after 6 months since I got a bit obsessed with my ex.. So I only owed $4,000 and paid it back over time. Then I left the country to pursue love.. I do not recommend doing that LOL.

My expenses were paid by SU (money you get while studying in Denmark) and by my partner. (Before some come after me I've been the "bread winner" too).
Later on I did temp work at the institutions I interned at.

During my college years, I worked as a teaching assistant and provided tutoring services. This not only helped cover some of my tuition and living expenses but also reinforced my knowledge and honed my communication skills. Working in an educational setting aligned with my long-term goals and enriched my learning experience both academically and professionally.

I was running an own small business already. The college fees were tax deductible, and: German.
So my college did not rip me off until retirement age, and I got an outstanding training, too.
The business is gone - I had trusted a 'good' friend.
My title and my qualification lasts forever.

SSI. I'm messed up from an abusive childhood. So messed up in fact I qualified for total permanent disability discharge on my student loans. I went to college for free. Thanks abuse! Having PTSD, borderline personality disorder, social anxiety disorder and major depression supremely sucks but I don't have to pay back $55,000.

@Hellraiser1984 I was the product of a broken home. Maybe if I told them that I might have got some money.
I'm from the UK so our Education system is not the same as the US, when I finished school at 17 I started work as an Apprentice Fitter/Turner, did one full year at my local Technical College full time, after that 3 years of Day Release then Qualified, after that I did extra education as and when I needed it.
10 ReplyStrangely, schooling here can be very expensive (assuming you want your children to actually be educated instead of attending a public school) whereas university is cheap. I have paid $65,000 for schooling two children this year. The most they could possibly pay for university tuition is $25-30000 and many courses are far cheaper. And they can pay that back as a percentage of their earnings over time instead of upfront, or not at all if they don't earn much.

My college had a cooperative work program, where I worked for a local company. It was one quarter class, one quarter coop work for 3 years. I made enough working full time coop to cover my expenses.
11 Reply Waitressing. It’s so underrated, yet if you work in the right place you can make more than what a lot of college degree jobs pay.

I was a server at a club on the Navy base. Then, when I turned 21, I switched to cocktail waitress, until the boss decided I should be a bartender.
00 Reply I didn't have a job. My father died. I mostly survived on what I got from his drug savings, along with grant money from the Welsh government... and begging.

Well, I'm from India, and usually students don't work to pay for the tuition and living expenses, as the parents provide until we get a job and start earning.
