How many different languages can you speak?

My native tongue is American English. I also know some of the vocabulary differences with British and Australian English. I can get by in French and Spanish, and know enough German and Mandarin Chinese to at least try to be understood. I can also read (phonetically) Greek and Russian (different alphabets) though I don't usually know what the words mean.

My father taught me to count from 1 to 10 in several languages when I was young, which started me towards learning other languages. It's interesting how well you can communicate in another language if you know how to count and some basic verbs and nouns.

My career as an engineer has involved lots of travel to other countries, where it's beneficial to learn and practice other languages.

I feel quite awful saying this but only English.
