I saw this recent tiktok video of a teacher expressing how increasingly she's noticed the kids not able to really comprehend what they are reading or have any basic critical thinking skills. It's a bit of an eye opener.

Anyways to any parents on this site do your kids read books?

ok good at least people here still understand how important reading is for their kids. i feel like this is something we all need to focus on more

I don't have my own kid but since i raised my little sister, i will answer anyways lol
She doesn't really read, it's so sad because my mom and really like to read but well she likes mangas but I don't really count it as reading reading.. it might change, she is still a kid

I had a kid. They were reading some words before they were 4. At 5 they were reading the Sunday comics. At 6 they read the first Harry Potter book.

The end of every school year we took kids to bookstore & said have fun. Find your summer treasure. Few limits on $. They loved it.
