From my experience coaching international students, there’s a rough pattern:
- First 1–3 months: culture shock, practical setup (housing, bank, SIM, basics).
- Around 6 months: daily life feels manageable, you know the city and routines.
- Around 1 year: you start to feel at home, have friends, know how things “work.”
- 2+ years: deeper belonging, local habits, maybe thinking in the new language.
It varies by personality, language skills, and support network, but most students feel basically “settled” after 6–12 months.
