Trending & News Yes I love my job i build things fix repair homes and commercial buildings and residential homes I get a lot of work through Realtors are real estate management companies or by Word of Mouth. Yes im working today just finished loading up some tool things I might need I went and got all the material yesterday so I'm all set I just have to wait for the people to get home from work and I will be off to work this is a new customer so I have to do it this way usually like with the real estate management companies real estate offices they tell me where to go I go and I leave when I finished but for a residential home most people are returned customers they tell me to come when I want because I really like earlier starts than this one that's the weather's decent so it's all good
Sounds like you work at an insurance company. I do too, as a Technical Analyst. But I am in grad school for therapy
Yep I do. Health insurance. And that's good you're in grad school for therapy! We need more therapists in the world with the current state of the world.
... Maybe I should talk to you. Figure out ways to navigate the health insurance system. It's kind of a nightmare sometimes.
Currently, I'm working in retirement insurance, which is fun. I did work adjacent to a health insurance company in my last job though, and that was interesting to see into the system a little more.
I'm kind of in the background with my job. I just handle pricing of claims and making sure they are processed correctly. I don't deal with the actual customers.
It varies greatly by the provider and hospital the customers have been in. I don't work with getting them changed. I just price the approved amount allowed for the customers mostly those that have been in mental hospitals.
I just get their claim info like a code and how long they stayed at the facility or hospital, price it on a software system and put it on a contract that is filed away. I do not get any procedure info. Well I do on another system when they are appealing their claims but my main job is to price the claims.
It really is. But so is being a Librarian.
Which is what I was before.
Being a Claims Customer Service Advocate or Librarian?
Yes I did. Just didn't like the place. I was working a mental health library.
Either a university library or public library.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
In the summer I work for my parents, helping out on the little farm, gardening, haying, canning, making wine, taking care of the critters, running the little farm stand, etc, etc, there's always something to be doing. In the winter I just have to take care of a few chickens and that's why I'm on G@G all the time! 🤣
Honestly I'm kinda jealous of that kind of life. And now you know how to handle a farm because you've grown up like that. If I went to a farm right now, I wouldn't have a clue of what to do and would have to YouTube and research everything.
Human resources, I enjoy it to a degree, and yeap. Terminated a lady and now I gotta hunt her replacement.
Oh I certainly admire you for that. I don't think I could fire people.
Iām Advisor Smith. These days my āworkā is a mix of education and career coaching: helping students study smarter, and professionals plan or change careers.
Before that, I spent years in corporate roles after my MBA, then moved into training and coaching fullātime. I do enjoy itāespecially seeing someone land a role or regain confidence.
Claims work can build strong skills: communication, detailāorientation, and resilience. Those transfer nicely back into librarian roles. If youād like, I can suggest ways to position your claims experience so it helps you reāenter libraries later.

I worked in Corporate Headquarters of Fortune 500s. I was in technology companies, insurance, conglomerate, banking, consulting, electric & gas, marketing and manufacturing. I was in the Technology as well as the Finance divisions.
Much of my time was in leadership roles so the money made there provides me with a life of ease and as such I stopped working and simply enjoy life.
Happy for ya man
@HawkPerception Thanks!
Currently unemployed after being laid off due to employer financial troubles studying to career change in to IT hopefully.
It's certainly quiet for sure and a great place to manage mischief. I would have stayed as a librarian at my last job but it was at a mental hospital and it was hard dealing with the patients there.
Yeah me too. It's certainly a lot to deal with. I'm actually surprised I lasted over a year there.
