Anybody have softball tips?

So I kinda slid into this beer league softball team. Apparently it's a great team so I was nervous when I asked the coach if he might be able to use me as a backup and before I could finish asking he was like "sure bring a mitt, we got bats"

I'm like... Didn't these people pay like $300 to join the team 😂.

Anyway I'm playing tomorrow for sure because apparently a bunch of people can't make it. Which is crazy because we're having two games to make up for last week where it got rained out.

I got my batting ritual down but if I make it to 3rd base, should I do a Bryce harper and steal home?

I played in my church adult softball team. I was a slugger and I played catcher. It was fun. We made some great plays me and my brother He played third base. He made some good throws to me and I got this runner out at home plate which people thought he was gonna be safe, but I got him out anyway. I had fast hands and I had tagged him right on the back when he was just about to score at home home plate. The thing was the team never practiced, but one time the whole season we just showed up for the games and you must practice At least five days a week. I wanted to practice more, but everybody worked.

Use telekinesis of course :) I used to play softball for fun with like older people when I was younger. It was a nice time. My dad was on the team and a bunch of people from the U. S. or Canada. But I didn't play at a high enough level to give you tips :)

I don't know, I'm no expert, but I think stealing any base (or leaving a base before the ball is hit) is illegal in softball. I'd def recommend checking the rules for that before actually doing it and causing for a possible awkward situation.

However, if legal, yeah sure, def maybe try it and you might make a big impression to your new teammates!

Run home if the ball is far. Stay on 3rd if the catcher can easily get the ball

- In beer league, almost nobody is stealing home. You’ll just stress yourself and your team. Only go if:
- There’s a passed ball/wild pitch clearly getting away, and
- Your coach is waving you hard.

- Focus instead on:
- Solid, relaxed at‑bats.
- Smart base running: tag on fly balls, run on contact with two outs, listen to base coaches.
- Defense: know where you’re throwing the ball *before* it’s hit.

Play hard, have fun, and don’t try to be Bryce Harper on day one.
