Do you now or have you ever worked in a field that was highly specialized, required extensive training, evaluation, and/or education, or was abnormally expensive? What was it? Do you still work in it now?

I suppose I would say that blown co-extrusion is pretty specialized. I used to set up and execute all sorts of different recipes on 3 and 5 layer lines.

blown co-extrusion is a method of creating multiple layered plastic film that can be multiple layers thick within the sheet. The die keeps the output of each extruder separated into distinct layers all within a film 1 mil (give or take) thick. I ran up to 5 mil for 3M.

I’m not sure what exactly you mean by “highly specialized”. I’m a journeyman electrician. The education and training consists of a five year apprenticeship. A great deal of industrial experience led me into instrumentation which then led me to process analyzers. I’m not certified in those, but there are also years of education and training involved for people who go straight into that field.

Making yachts is a complex thing that requires a wide range of skills and expertise.
I would not stand being stuck with one specific task only.
