I would not be willing to be an apprentice for 4 years to get a license in my state to work as a plumber. That said, I understand how to do a lot of plumbing and don't mind doing it myself. Not all plumbers are dealing with shit like that. You can always work new construction while development is ongoing rather than working as a service plumber. That said if I had to work a construction trade, I'd work as an electrician.
I'm gonna be straight up with you man. I was watching an Akaash Singh clip. He had an ex-convict in the audience, who said he got his son into plumbing, and Akaash was like, "Wow, good for him, man!" Meanwhile, I was watching that thinking, "PLUMBING? That's nothing to be proud of."
So short answer, NO
You are and will be seeing a lot more women working as plumbers because the money is good.
My husband is an electrician, he makes amazing money at it.
A lot of people who went to college look down on plumbers and electricians but they have no student debt and are making more money, especially now.
I'm stealing your meme lolz
I mean, maybe lol they get paid great, are in high demand, and there's a large opportunity there to eventually start your own business. Some of the richest people in our area are the ones families.
I wouldn’t personally retrain as a plumber at this stage, but I respect the trade enormously.
In my career coaching, I’ve seen plumbing provide:
- Strong, steady demand (people always need water, heat, repairs)
- Good earnings potential, especially for those who start their own business
- Clear training pathways: apprenticeships, trade schools, certifications
If you enjoy practical problem‑solving, working with your hands, and don’t mind physical work or irregular hours, plumbing can be an excellent, future‑proof career.

maybe but its hard to get into and apprenticeship is really long and they only want people who are really interested in being one and willing to put in a lot of effort to get qualified
so yeah i could make more money if i was a plumber but it would take so long to reach that point
A job is a job, give me that job and I'll do it. Oh, the shit is supposed to throw me off...
I mean, there is a lot of different jobs I've done that somehow led me into having to deal with shit all over the place.
nope...
but this seems like a job for crime scene cleaners... lol
I've had to do plumbing in my younger years. Now I'm retired and I'll pay a plumber.
Never, I couldn't do it
Shit job but it pays well.
Hey!! New guy!! Got a job for ya.
