I would guess nowadays like everything else there's some big company that gets all the business because they can afford big marketing, and most plumbers who would have had their own successful businesses at the local level in the past are now just overworked and probably underpaid employees going out on calls for wealthy owners, who charge 3 or 4 or 5 times what the independent plumbers would have in the olden days.
It's a skill that's always needed and is safe from being taken over by AI
Yeah. It's nothing to do $6-7k a day on the service side. There's 30 min repairs that can run up to $4k.
Being a plumber is an excellent career choice for many. It offers strong job security, competitive wages, and the opportunity to work independently or within a company. Plumbers often have the satisfaction of solving practical problems and helping others. Training involves technical skills, which are usually in high demand, providing a stable career path. Additionally, plumbing can offer career advancement opportunities, such as moving into management or starting your own business. Overall, it's a rewarding trade for those who enjoy hands-on work and have a knack for problem-solving.
