What are you doing to add new adventures to your life, right now?

We are hosting a foreign exchange student from France arriving this week.

Have you ever done this, what worked well for you, what didn't? What would you want to do or learn if you visited another country. There are 10 kids coming overall to other hosts. There are also kids going the other direction from USA to other countries.

How about you... are you living life?

My husband & I briefly hosted an exchange student from Japan last year.

In '23, we hosted an exchange student from the Philippines.

Both kids truly appeared to be genuinely happy that we fostered them especially since we hosted them in our electrifying & vibrant home and took them to adventures they never imagined they'd ever experience.

Anyway, apart from the above, my husband & I (along with a few deserving friends) have adventures that have always been the same. . .

Travel to new spots around the world and travel to the same places we'd like to visit over & over again.

We'd add some new thrills (ziplining, scuba diving, spelunking, sky diving, etc.) to our adventures when we travel to add more fun.

When were both home, we'd make a few changes in our routine and interests just so that our lives don't appear to be monotonous.

For example, we're playing tennis now, instead of just golfing & cycling.

We're now also allowing our dogs to hike with us on trails instead of leaving them.

Disappointingly, we're slowly kinda giving up our occasional weekend passion for motorsports which makes me sad that I won't be going "zoom! zoom!" with my trusty old twin-turbo Mazda RX7 on the turns & straightaways of my favorite racetracks as much I used to.

However, I am strongly considering my husband's offer to teach me how to fly his li'l airplane on weekends.

take easy with the tennis at your age unless you are in shape for it:)

Nothing lately. I grew up in a farm in Canada and my dad occasionally hired someone from New Zealand to work for us for a year or so. Now I have several connections in New Zealand. They are very hardworking and very nice people.

yea I go to events it's different there. but honestly, you'll be watching it on a huge TV. hard to see the action as well as tv. it's the crowd of energy.
All those humans mind locking their energy into some kids kicking a ball around. It's somewhat reflective of the Mongolian game where they'd chop someones head off and bang it around on horseback. A little nicer.

If I went abroad, I’d want to:
1) Learn the language basics;

3) Volunteer or take a short course to meet locals.

I got to have total hip replacement in January. It really did not go smoothly and I am still trying to get back to normal. Soon there is another issue that I must deal with.

I can tell you just getting older sucks... muscles out of whack, weak hips, core and overweight will cause all sorts issues.

Everything that was a little screwed up suddenly got worse. I became anemic and pre-diabetic, I got a UTI. I had some neuropathy in my feet and that has got worse. My knee and elbow feel like they are swollen. My brain is a little scrambled too. The doc says it will get better but it has been 4 months and it has got better but it still is messed up.

I had blood work. I end up anemic and pre diabetic. I just found out my PSA was elevated. I have to have a biopsy of my prostate in a couple of weeks. Its a good thing I did not teach this semester because of all the doctors visits.

one thing leads to another... true with meds too. #1 controls you have is drop the weight, change the diet. Its being forced. you cannot have carbs esp bread. we had no choice, you know that, and we've been fine tuning diet until we are good. its worked so far. Salads, bitters, etc.. clean up the system... get back again.

elevated PSA is normal. I wish you luck with it all, it sucks to lose health. Health #1 priority now.

I have just lost ten or so pounds and want to lose another ten. Just from cutting out sugar and adding protein to my diet.

that works. cutting the carbs like rice/pasta/bread will do it. skip breakfast generally, 1 to 1.5 meals and should be good. the numbers all come back in line when the system unclogs. then come off the meds if taking.

Well I just worked a 13 hour shift 3 hours ago. And during the last 2 hours of that shift while we were unloading grain trucks outside there was a incredibly violet lighting storm going on, high winds and tornado sirens blaring all around us.
