Should I switch from biology to a career in languages?

I’m a biologist, but I’m currently thinking that I don’t want to work in this field. Unfortunately, in the region where I live, biology-related jobs aren’t well paid, even though I have a master’s degree. Besides my native language, I speak English and Turkish, and I’m currently learning German. Do you think I could find a job in the language field or build a career around languages?

If you don’t want to work in the field, then switch. You have a lot more options in biology. That is my major.

I feel like I can’t grow or develop where I am. I need to move to another country, but unfortunately, I can’t afford it financially. The only thing I can do for now is improve another skill I have, which is learning languages. Actually, I really do love biology, but my passion for it has been slowly killed by my circumstances

The problem with that is devices already take care of translation. My AirPods will translate into my ear in realtime.

Have you thought about talking to a perspective school and telling them where your education currently lies and ask for suggestions on continuing education?

They might have suggestions that you never thought about. That’s usually a free sit down with admissions.

See an employment counselor at your local college. I doubt that there is much demand for people who can speak German. I am surprised bio majors are finding the job market hard.

Yes, it’s difficult to find a job in biology, and the jobs that are available tend to be very poorly paid

Just beware that AI applications are making it easier for people to communicate in pretty much any common language. It translates for you as you speak.

I will say stick to biology, AI is making language translation easier.. In the next 5 years I'm not sure a human translator will be needed
