I need a badass name for a modern day female assassin character. Any ideas?

I don't want it too on the nose or girlie, but I want readers to be able to tell that it's still a girl. So Jessica, Luna, Sheena, Elizabeth, things like that are not want I want.

Any ideas? Also, Saige and Terra are out because I used those in two other books that I have ideas for.

I was thinking something like Rayne or Nova would be cool, except I think Terra in one book and Nova in the other is a little odd. The character is conceptualized to be 18 or 19 years old, white with brown hair and green eyes. She runs into another girl who is black with grey eyes that is a couple years younger than her so if you can come up with a name for both, that'd be awesome, too.

  • I think Jackie/Jacky is a pretty badass name. It's unisex so it's definitely not to girly or anything like that.

What Guys Said 20

  • The White girl:
Sephira (In the Greek origin, it means West Wind)
Floressa (In French origin, it means Flower)
Kleio (Means, Glory, In Greek mythology she was the goddess of history and heroic poetry)
Leah (Means several concepts such as weary, mistress, ruler)
Andraste (Means, invincible in Celtic. It's been the name of a Briton goddess of victory who was invoked by Boudicca before her revolt)
Margarita (In Latin it means Pearl)
Lilith (This was the name of a demon in ancient Assyrian myths)
Eliza (Means, oath of god or pledged to god)
    Regina (It means, Queen)
Cassandra (In Greek origin, it means To shine"
Flora (Flora was the Roman goddess of flowers and spring, the wife of Zephyr the west wind)
    Clara (It means, bright, famous)
Zoe (In Greek origins, it means Life)

I thought maybe for the black girl, we kinda separate the origins to makes the characters standout more. I considered French origin names and African origin names would be nicer to makes both characteristics standout in a unique way in the sake of story.
Amèlie (It means, hard working and industrious)
    Andrée (Means, Brave)
Élise (It means, consecrated to god)
Lilou (It usually referred to Purity)
    Margot (Means, Pearl)
Alemayehu (The world, i have seen the world)
    Mirembe (Peace)
    Tajeddigt (Flower)
Tinashe (Means, god is with us)
    Amara (Grace)
Yewande (It means, the mother has returned)

    • Perhaps this will be of some inspiration.
      quod.lib.umich.edu/.../rsv-idx
"[8] For she took off her widow's mourning
to exalt the oppressed in Israel.
She anointed her face with ointment
and fastened her hair with a tiara
and put on a linen gown to deceive him.
[9] Her sandal ravished his eyes,
      her beauty captivated his mind,
and the sword severed his neck.
[10] The Persians trembled at her boldness,
the Medes were daunted at her daring."

    • That might be a better name for her companion then. I think I'm using it.

  • You mean like Nikita? As in le femme Nakita or some Russian girl names that seem like assasin names

    • There's several movies and concepts that have female assassins, not just Kill Bill, which I've never seen nor have a desire to watch.

So do you have something useful to contribute or not?
