Why do children believe in Santa? Because it is mystical and amazing and our parents teach it to us and it hides a cold truth. People believe in God because the alternative means that when we die we cease to exist on any kind of level, that frightens them so if they believe in god (s) it promises them a life after death. I used to buy into the lie as well, Went to Sunday school and got baptized believed with all my heart and soul that if I left my worries and troubles with God he would deliver me, 18 years later I have nothing to show for my faith but crippling debt, a job that is slowly killing me, no home, and I have never had a girlfriend. So when they say trust in the lord and he will provide, I counter with only heartache and disappointment.

As for how I describe myself as him: I think I am important but I have no idea of what is going on, every decision I make blows up in my face and those I trust the most betray me.

If I could prove an omnipotent being was real, then he wouldn't be much of an omnipotent being.. But, faith is the evidence of things not seen.. Not blind belief.. Although it could be.. We can't proof that he exist or doesn't exist really.. It's up to us to seek him though.. :).
