Emo stands for Emotive Hardcore, and is a Hardcore Punk subgere that emerged in the 80s some victims of the genre are early Weezer and I Hate Myself. Then we have the newer "Emo Pop" which is the combination of Pop Punk and Emotive Hardcore. Some emo pop bands are Jimmy Eat Word and All Time Low. There are many retards out there who thinks emo is short for emotional and that it is a way of dressing/a life style, but the emo fashion thing is really just edgy hipsters out after attention. I don't get why people think all this other stuff when you can literally just Google "Emo" and find the right answer yee

Emo stands for emotional. So any music that is emotional or an emotional meaning can be classed as emo. Bands such as black veil brides, pierce the veil, the used etc can be classed as emo music. People also say people who have depression and/or self harm are emo.

a lot of people look emo because theyve been through shit. other than that, its more of a choice to be emo, looking emo doesn't mean they are emo, causing a lot of self harm, just the idea of being dead inside or looking dead. I've been through and past the "emo" phase because my dad and step dad passed away and I witnessed my sisters death all in one year and now its been 4 years since then but thats my opinion
