What do you think about the Vic Mignogna case?

I’ve yet to hear about this case and would have to look into it before fully forming an opinion. However, it definitely sucks to be accused of something so vicious with things like the MeToo movement in full force. Even if he’s found innocent, his reputation will be tarnished forever. I can’t even imagine what getting work would look like for him. Definitely an awful place for him, innocent or otherwise.
The thing with that is, once an accusation like that is put in motion, everyone pays. If the company didn’t fire him on their own, the public would demand it. People take it so far, tracking down even the social media of family members to bash the accused. A lot of companies are just proactive with taking action. It’s really too bad.
I've been getting warned about Vic by older congoers ever since I went to my first anime convention at age 12. This is not a new thing being dragged out of nowhere. He has a history and there's a long list of people with evidence who have come forward.
It's a really spiky and complicated case.
I'll definitely look it up, the only cautious judgement I can make for now is that this will definitely fracture the American VA scene and cause a significant rift between fans as well, much like Gamergate and MeToo.
The only certainty I have is that seems to be a situation with no victors, everyone is going to lose from this.
yeah no one is getting out of this in one piece. I know i said it, but if you want information on this look up Nick Rekieta and Ty Beard on youtube. Ty Beard is the head of Beard, Bullock, and Hughes, the firm that is representing Vic in this case. Oh a major detail i forgot to mention is that Vic is suing Funimation not the other way around.
I'll only add that for now the KickVic side seems to have failed to produce actual evidence and there are problems with the other material they brought, so they have the weakest argument for now.
@thetruex I'll look it up.
If I can make a judgement, Vic is doing the best move on preemptively suing Funimation.
It's his life and his career on the line, he doesn't have to pull punches if he wants to demonstrate his innocence.
i kind of what someone who isn't an anime fan to argue in favor of KicVic, if only so i can understand how most people who don't know of Vic see this case. I'm a little biased because Vic is friends with Todd Haberkorn who is my favorite voice actor to ever exist. That's actually how i found out who Vic was.
